Every Time Trump Shows up for One of His "Briefings"

he loses supporters. Not many, but some. With his moronic insistence that he is all-powerful and all-knowing, his lies become more and more evident every day. He's not doing well with his self-defense plan, and it shows in his increasingly panicky presentation.

Every former supporter who is leaving his following diminishes the numbers in his base. Every Trump-supporter who has someone sick or dead from COVID-19 is watching Trump convict himself, day after day.

Will he lose all of his base? Of course not. Will he lose some around the edges? Yes, he will.

That's why I favor his continuation of this daily exposure of his incompetence and sociopathy. I want him to stand up there and contradict himself again and again. I want reporters like brave Paula Reid to insist that he answer questions, and I want him to continue to call her a "fake."

Please proceed, Donwald.

if a policy is popular or working effectively, you don't need to say all that much. the evidence speaks for itself and there are plenty of other people who will say good things about such programs as well.

virtually every policy republicans push is unpopular. takes a lot of work to get people to vote for that crap or even just to put up with it when the policies are terrible.

so they have to lie, insult, invent scandals, distract, etc.

otherwise, they'd have to change their policies to find something the people actually want, and you know they'll never even consider *that*!

Trump goes on and on, because what he proposes is very unpopular. It's not helping him, though, but is making him even more unpopular.

That's because he cares only for himself, and that is painfully obvious.

when the economy is basically fine and the stock market is going up and we don't feel like we're in a crisis, we might feel we can afford to have a vaguely entertaining distraction in the white house. well, i don't find him entertaining, but clearly republicans do.

anyway, now that we're in a crisis, people are waking up to the idea that, hey, now would be a good time to have someone at least marginally competent in the white house, and that's where he's failing miserably.

self-promotion and image management and shock-jock politics are no good when the situation calls for gravitas. no one cares about a fake scandal about democrats or his historical revisionism when they're scared of going to their own mailbox and they don't know where their next roll of toilet paper is coming from....

and if they talk for say 2 minutes, he jumps in for 5.

He's done this before but now it's rampant and obvious. However, I now believe he's doing this in hope (good luck pal!) that the networks don't cut away. Sure, they have started to do so when he's on his rants but now, by interjecting himself literally between each speaker, his attempts to stay close to Fauci and Birx (sp?) are clearly designed to keep the spotlight on him.

Leading Civil Rights Lawyer Shows 20 Ways Trump Is Copying Hitler’s Early Rhetoric and Policies

A new book by one of the nation’s foremost civil liberties lawyers powerfully describes how America’s constitutional checks and balances are being pushed to the brink by a president who is consciously following Adolf Hitler’s extremist propaganda and policy template from the early 1930s—when the Nazis took power in Germany.

In When at Times the Mob Is Swayed: A Citizen’s Guide to Defending Our Republic, Burt Neuborne mostly focuses on how America’s constitutional foundation in 2019—an unrepresentative Congress, the Electoral College and a right-wing Supreme Court majority—is not positioned to withstand Trump’s extreme polarization and GOP power grabs. However, its second chapter, “Why the Sudden Concern About Fixing the Brakes?,” extensively details Trump’s mimicry of Hitler’s pre-war rhetoric and strategies.

Neuborne doesn’t make this comparison lightly. His 55-year career began by challenging the constitutionality of the Vietnam War in the 1960s. He became the ACLU’s national legal director in the 1980s under Ronald Reagan. He was founding legal director of the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School in the 1990s. He has been part of more than 200 Supreme Court cases and Holocaust reparation litigation.

but it's another thing to lie about something that brings death with it. The virus is apolitical, it kills Dems and Reps alike. The virus is starting to hit the more rural red states now and the death it brings will sway people away from Trump. The governor of Nebraska has yet to issue a stay home order and Nebraska is seeing and uptick in infections. The numbers are still low but Nebraska has done very little testing.

Worse situation in South Dakota where its governor has also not issued a stay at home order. A huge pork processing plant in Sioux Falls has been forced to shut down because of the virus. It employs more than 1,000 workers who literally stand shoulder to shoulder working. How long before that plant reopens and who will want to work there?

Oh and the governor of Nebraska is talking about reopening bars and restaurants when its virus cases are increasing.

Red states who drink Trump's Kool Ade are going to get hit hard and it's coming now.

Also, no way the numbers from Texas and Florida are accurate. 25% of Texans have no health insurance so if the virus increases it will quickly overwhelm the hospitals who are not used to seeing big numbers of patients. Florida's governor just got caught hiding all of the nursing home deaths and with such an elderly population no way his numbers are accurate.

Will the Trump cult put 2 and 2 together and figure out that they were being lied to? Maybe death will convince a few?

when your local grocery store can't obtain beef, pork and fowl because the processing plants are closed because of Covid-19? Just learned that a large beef processor -- Cargill, in Alberta -- is shut down because of the virus. There are, and will be, many more, here and in the US, largely because the workers aren't protected.

Food and water are the necessities of life. Yes, many of us think toilet paper is too, but if we aren't eating, no need for TP.

Every facet of society is affected, and I cannot understand why Repub governors, let alone the Covidiot in the White House and his monster advisors aren't seeing it.

The stupid, it really hurts. And it will hurt more and more as the days go by.

When this is over, he will try to spin this to his advantage using his rallies, foxnews and conservative talk radio!! WE CAN'T LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT!! We need to keep a running documentation of all of his screw ups to remind the american people who this maniac is--A CON ARTIST who wants to run this country as if its his own personal piggy-bank!! We need to remind people that this man is a con, a grifter, a very rich grifter who got that way by borrowing money (not paying it back) and bilking the government. If we have to we need to take out video ads showing all of his screw ups no matter how large or how small (including his dancing, prancing, and then sitting during the super bowl national anthem). THE KEY IS TO NOT LET THE LATEST NEWS CYCLE AND HIS BACKHAND BUDDIES SIDE TRACK FROM ALL OF HIS SCREW UPS. We also need to track the use of this $2 trillion dollar stimulus package. We need to follow the money. He and manuchin think that by handing the american people some paultry $2400 check we won't care to pay attention. He's treating us like a bunch of money-hungry welfare poverty beggars. Meanwhile they could be stealing a large portion of that money for themselves. That little check they're sending us is nothing more than a cheap magicians trick of misdirection---get us focusing on the little check, then do something else while we're not looking. WE HAVE TO ALWAYS REMEMBER, THESE PEOPLE HATE THE GOVERNMENT! THEY BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT OWES THEM BILLIONS OF $$$. THEY WANT THEIR MONEY BACK AND THEY DON'T CARE HOW THEY GET IT!!! TRUMP IS ALREADY ATTEMPTING TO GET RID OF ANY OVERSIGHT OF THE STIMULUS PACKAGE, SO FOLLOW THE MONEY--THEY ARE STEALING.

The cheap thug presents such a spectacle of mental imbalance and self-satisfaction amid disaster that anyone with the least shred of decency in their souls must be disgusted and repelled. These press sessions are his substitute for the drug of Nuremberg-style rallies he craves, that are denied him at present, but even our current press is not the adoring crowd he hopes to be sustained by, and the substitution simply does not work, anymore than would taking acetaminophen when it is morphine that the ache requires. He sheds votes with each rant, as he makes clear to people not already devoted to him exactly what a poor excuse for a human being he is.
