trumper to allow businesses to open.
Would the FBI go to arrest them for defying the trumper or would a different agency do that.
What would the possible prison term be for defying trumper?
If individual business owners defied trumper and refused to open would they also be subject to arrest and prison terms?
Will he lead his supporters at rallies chanting "lock them up! lock them up! lock them up!"

(14,967 posts)not to fall to the ground. It's nonsense and will have the same effect as other nonsensical statements.
What is the FBI going to do to force you to open your business? I mean that literally: what action are they engaging in to make the business open? Threaten you with gunfire? Physically take control of your property? Physically restrain you, or operate your body like a "Weekend at Bernie's" puppet?
If they violate your civil rights knowingly -- as such a situation would be -- those FBI people are not only opening themselves up to be sued as a part of the federal government, they are opening themselves up to being sued personally. The overwhelming majority of FBI personnel are not going to ruin their own lives for Trump's nonsense.

(23,238 posts)no statutory violation, so no jail time. AnusMouth never issued a stay-home order; it was all done by governors. CDC only issued "guidelines" which have no probative value. So there is no federal violation; all AnusMouth has is his "bully-pulpit", power of persuasion, and that's insignificant. The actual power here lies with governors who issued the original orders. When they rescind them, we're open again. Until then, you stay home.
The only thing I could remotely see is having Barr bring a civil-rights-violation lawsuit against a state that refuses to rescind, and only a serious tRump-humper judge wouldn't laugh that out of the court.

(22,129 posts)rage...rump reminds me of a toothless old tiger. He has no power to force us (who in truth represent the vast economic engine of this country, over 60%) to spend or do a damn thing. There's nothing in the federal arsenal that can force us to spend a dime. Screw him.
Just watch, they'll be begging us to spend, 'please spend'!
This happened in the 2008 crash, when consumers slammed the brakes on spending, and the Bush administration was begging people to spend money.
IMHO, What did it get us? Look at what the Senate and the so called president awarded us, more tax cuts for the 1%ers.
An economy with the minimum wage still stuck at 1970s levels. And the level of income disparity at the highest levels ever. Wow, we're really winning, aren't we? Instead what we really got is a fake, recovered economy that only the 1%ers truly benefited from, from a constantly rising stock market (all fake), propped up w/ tax cuts being fed into the market (allowing CEOs etc. to buy back their stocks) and not the essentials that cause stocks to go up in price.
Not us. I would suggest that if we want to show our power again (instead of the ballot box too as we did in Wisconsin), we should spend only the absolute essential amount needed to get by, and force prices to go down, in order to get us, the consumer to spend money. I'm sick and tired of being treated like a 2nd hand fiddle, being that without us, and our spending power, the 1%ers really don't have anything.

(24,412 posts)It carries no force of law. And this is an exceptionally unique circumstance. There are always going to be a few yahoos whom will go out and do what they want to do because they think they'll be "owning" the libs but the fact of the matter is that most people value their health and the health of others and most public officials (who value their cush jobs and don't want to lose them) and business owners (who want to keep being able to make money) are not going to blithely open their doors until they feel safe in doing so. Trump can bully or bluster everybody but until public health officials feel we have a grip on this thing and have a well-thought out and comprehensive plan to keep the public safe, most people are going to be cautious.
