I hear so much "both parties are the same" all the time from people & I have great rebuttals to garner support for Joe & all Blue candidates, but there would be ZERO defense for pardons - plural. They must ALL BE HELD to same standards as you or I would be.

(57,073 posts)No dump won't transition easily & I don't think he will step down off his self-perceived throne because someone probably told him his nasty, fat ass will rot in prison.
What the country needs to see is dump, moscow mitch, pence, etc., etc., etc. handcuffed & perp walked to jail AND NOT BE LET OUT.
Anything short of this, I fear, will cause disgust in our system of law & justice.
I know a lot of folks I have talked with feel this way.
One set of laws for the rich with important titles & another set for everyone else absolutely must stop.
I have had clients in southern states so poor they literally could not drive grandmas to traffic court, which resulted in bench warrants AND JAIL TIME. People are fed up with this sort of bs!

(12,586 posts)First of all, Fat Donnie won't accept defeat, no matter how lopsided Biden's victory. He'll contest it through the courts -- or more likely go straight to the SCOTUS, given his tendency to skip the lower courts and go to where the fix is in.
If he loses there (which is not certain, seeing how the Court was willing to declare Dubya the victor), he would declare victory anyway, citing Article 4 as giving him the power to do anything he wants.
If he loses all support by the Republicans, he'll wait until the morning of Biden's inauguration to suddenly resign, giving Pence the power to pardon Trump.
Needless to say, it doesn't matter whether he wins or loses, his administration will do zilch to effect the smooth transfer of power from his administration to the next.
I don't know if any of this is true, but given what we know about Trump I wouldn't put it past him. I do think the first and last suggestions are the most likely.

Trump will have his own EX PRESIDENTIAL detail (as all ex presidents do), and that detail will see him OUT of the white house in a dignified manner;
The US Secret Service is above making this a circus, unless trump makes them, and if it comes to that, I'm pretty sure it will involve handcuffs or the US Marshall's Service, just to drive home the point that his removal from the premises is about the rule of LAW.

In April of 2016, nobody but Steve Bannon saw any way in hell that Donald Trump would be the 45th President.
WE MUST NOT BE COMPLACENT!
The hard work of winning this election must STILL be done....Not by somebody else, but by ALL OF US! There will be powerful forces that will do everything in their power to keep this man in power. He will be desperate to win as the prospect of life in a New York prison looms in the alternative scenario.

We can't do that. If we don't finish this job, we risk having victory slip away from us.

The 'proprietary' code in the voting machines will be compromised (as if it isn't already). They will pull out every dirty trick in the book to hold on to power and will do so even in broad daylight. This go-round the media needs to call out each and every instance and name names. This shit must end once and for all!
I'd also like to add that after Joe wins in a landslide we must hold him and his Attorney General to the fire that there will not be any 'moving forward' until each and every one of the Drumpf administration is held accountable for their corruption.

(21,479 posts)giving Trump a winning number if votes, even though we know the number is false? What will we do then?
Take it to court? It's supposed to be a state issue.
Is it likely that Americans would take it to the streets, as other countries have done over election fraud? If people do that, it will end up in civil war.
How can we avoid that happening?
BComplex
(8,053 posts)When he won't leave, THEN what? I feel like we need to have some kind of plan in place because many of us truly believe that trump and his republican goons are going to force this onto the supreme court. We all know (or SHOULD know) that the supreme court will give it to trump.
wnylib
(21,479 posts)The only time they should get involved is in cases of discrimination or disenfranchisement. That would fit if Trump and Russia fix the votes, but it takes time to research and prove fraud for a court case.
What if we know that's what happened but can't prove it?
If the votes show that he lost, it's guarenteed that he will claim fraud and refuse to leave. When he does, what are the means of forcible removal? His militia goons will fight to support him. That means a battle, too.
Either way, I don't see us getting rid of him without a real life fight, not just a symbolic one. His actions will make it necessary.

(2,212 posts)Donald Trump has a real talent in one area only -- misinformation, rabble-rousing, and propaganda -- and when it comes to those things, his talent is formidable. You could even call it genius. He has a mastery for connecting with the ugly parts of peoples' souls -- their fear, resentment, and hate -- and his followers love him.
There's lots of time before November. Plenty of time for a demagogue like Trump to create all sorts of disruption and distraction. He has a lot at his disposal, after all. He's the most dangerous man ever to occupy the White House and to announce "It's over!" with more than half a year to go is hubris.
