"SNIP.....

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth (R-IN) told WIBC that Americans need to get back to work immediately, even if it means significantly increasing the spread of the coronavirus.

He acknowledged that ending social distancing could result in major public health harms and “loss of life,” but he said it was better than letting the economy fall apart.

Said Hollingsworth: “It is policymakers’ decision to put on our big boy and big girl pants and say it is the lesser of these two evils.”

Tue Apr 14, 2020, 06:01 PM
Apr 2020

The problem is these asshats and their devotion to protecting profits over people, cash over caring leads to runaway infections and an r-naught for the virus that virtually assures that in time everyone alive will face the virus.

Now, some people barely have symptoms and others die in days...some high risk groups are seeing mortality rates north of 10% (or far worse, potentially), while others are having the virus spare them more often than not and CAN look like the flu in those small subgroups...

But the problem here is and always will be the subtext - 1) he assumes that HE won't get it and that neither will his loved ones or acquaintances; and he is simply wrong and 2) he is essentially placing a price on the value of human life and finding it wanting next to the value of corporate and business profits and the goods and services money can buy...

The first error is enough for me to hate the very idea and loathe the men and women who are pounding away on it as a viable 'plan', but the second is truly monstrous and to see it universally come from the mouths of the same motherfuckers who pontificate about the 'sanctity of life' and 'protecting life' and 'defending the unborn', its just too goddamn much hypocrisy to stand...

NO ONE among these fuck toys had better EVER tell me (or let me hear them tell ANYONE) about how much they value life and protect the innocent...they will suffer a broken jaw and lose several to all of their teeth in the exchange.

Life is irreplaceable, and our 'god-given' Constitutional rights start with the premise that LIFE is the primary right...above LIBERTY and superseding PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

Fuck them all, without a trace of love or tenderness...they pay full freight for being monsters of the highest order.

Why do I feel as if Trump and the Republicans, if they had a group screening of the film, would be taking notes and nodding their heads in approval at the Nazis' efficiency as they carried out their murderous acts?

Not only is it stupid and evil for this GOP idiot to say death from coronavirus better than "letting the economy fall apart", he is simply wrong about the entire statement. We are still in the middle of this pandemic. We have not flattened the curve or contained the virus in any meaningful way. We still have no accurate idea of who is sick. If we go back to work as the idiots in the GOP are suggesting, we will see massive transmission of the virus followed by massive amounts of disability and death. Prior to the shelter in place orders, the prediction was that 60% to 70% of Americans would get the virus. That is a minimum of 198 million people infected. if only 2% die that would be almost 4 MILLION PEOPLE DEAD. What do those idiots think will happen to the economy with 4 million people dying in a short period. I am not even talking about the rate of people who would be debilitated from the virus which would be substantially more. I am not even talking about the overwhelm of ALL public health and safety systems by the sheer number of people infected and sick.

They still think that this is like the flu, where you get sick, take some NyQuil, then get up and go to work. Following their advice would be sure death to the people AND the economy. John Oliver said, "Relaxing social distancing to save the economy isn't just trading one bad outcome for another bad outcome, it is trading one bad outcome for BOTH bad outcomes. It's shitting on your cake, and choking on it too".
