"SNIP.....

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth (R-IN) told WIBC that Americans need to get back to work immediately, even if it means significantly increasing the spread of the coronavirus.

He acknowledged that ending social distancing could result in major public health harms and “loss of life,” but he said it was better than letting the economy fall apart.

Said Hollingsworth: “It is policymakers’ decision to put on our big boy and big girl pants and say it is the lesser of these two evils.”

....SNIP"

What does this clown think would happen if there was no social distancing? The ranks of the infected would grow exponentially, hospitals would soon be overwhelmed, municipal parking lots would be turned into ersatz hospitals for the dead and the dying, and folks would be scared to leave their houses to take out their garbage.

There would be no economy.

Even as a theoretical position it's absurd. DemocratSinceBirth Apr 2020 #2
Completely. I'd still like to hear what asinine reply he would have. n/t Guilded Lilly Apr 2020 #3

To test that “save the economy not lives” theory?

Cabin fever, but still a fever. That's what I bet a lot of these "Reopen" folks have. All I can say is go for a drive... and stay at least 2 meters away from people while doing it.

To accept a couple of thousand American deaths per week if the dividend checks start coming back in. In the balance between money and life, Republicans will always take the money. Hell, we are making new people every day.....

What one of these guys sacrifices his family on TV to show his sincerity, then they will get my attention. Until then I call them totally full of shit.

He sees that mostly Black and Brown people are dying. So in his small brain, he thinks that Whites will be ok. What he doesn't see is a massive number of Whites have jobs that allowed them to work from home, those that didn't likely are laid off from non essential jobs like real estate and sales. Most Black and Brown people had jobs that can't be done from home, so they are being exposed more and are dying more. Once everyone must leave home, the statistics will likely shift.
