Am I the only one cheering it's inevitable demise?
He put it off to maximize impact. And now, he's missed his window. LOL.
Maybe karma will pay a visit. I can see it now.... "Bolton Book Published Posthumously" with a lead that reads, "Two years after he disbanded the pandemic response team that could have spared hundreds of thousands of American lives including his own, John Bolton was laid to rest."

(13,776 posts)Bet he's kicking himself now.
None of us would want to read it, none of the COVID45 lovers would want to read it. It's a waste of wood pulp that could better have been made into toilet paper.

(19,479 posts)If his agent was a good enough negotiator, then he'll be able to keep the advance, or at least the part of it he received on signing. But it all depends on the wording in the contract.

(334 posts)Nothing he divulges at this point is going to make a difference on the outcome of history. It's pointless to even publish it now.
The news cycle has moved on.
Bolton is forgotten history. No one gives a shit now. People who matter on both sides of the aisle don't care what he has to say. Literally. No. One. Gives. A. Shit.
Solomon
(12,310 posts)Lol. Not worth the paper it's written on. He'll wind up buying them himself to try to get it on the list.
I worked with an attorney who did this. Wrote an autobiographical book and wound up buying them himself. Lol
DavidDvorkin
(19,479 posts)Bolton is different from your attorney friend. He'll sell a lot of copies to people who hate him, people who still love him, and the simply curious.
Whether he'll sell enough copies to justify the advance is another matter. But even so, he'll probably achieve sales numbers that most authors would be delighted with.
Here are the current Amazon sales rankings for the book, based on presales:
Hardcover:
#8,930 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)
#42 in United States National Government
#9 in National & International Security (Books)
#44 in United States Executive Government
Audiobook:
#3,821 in Audible Books & Originals (See Top 100 in Audible Books & Originals)
#4 in National & International Security (Audible Books & Originals)
#18 in National & International Security (Books)
#39 in Biographies of Politicians
Kindle:
#17,070 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#23 in Political History (Kindle Store)
#7 in National & International Security (Kindle Store)
#16 in 21st Century History of the U.S.
Not spectacular, but not bad.

It seems obvious both types are indulging...negative reactions without thinking. Maybe ONE side is different in actually being against protecting that criminal gang, but if so they should act like it.

(113,318 posts)an asshole Yosemite Bolton is, is NOT censorship.
The "both sides are doing it" line is troublesome.

(25,980 posts)The sad part is, Bolton could have testified and garnered all sorts of good will that might have saved the book sales and - ya know - the country. He got greedy and now his name is mud and it looks like his book will be toast.
Good.

(5,801 posts)each and every interviewer better ask him about disbanding the pandemic response team.
And if his press agent says in advance he won't take such questions, no interview.
