Sanders Tells His Supporters It Would Be Irresponsible Not To Support Biden

From the article:

Sanders said his supporters have a simple choice now that Biden has emerged as the presumptive nominee: “Do we be as active as we can in electing Joe Biden and doing everything we can to move Joe and his campaign in a more progressive direction? Or do we choose to sit it out and allow the most dangerous president in modern American history to get reelected?”
He continued: “I believe that it’s irresponsible for anybody to say, ‘Well, I disagree with Joe Biden — I disagree with Joe Biden! — and therefore I’m not going to be involved.’”

I would go even further, and say it would be insane to not support, work for, and vote for Joe Biden. The alternative is to either vote for a lunatic, or refuse to vote for the sane, progressive choice.

I was afraid he would phone it in the way he did in 2016. I thank him for this.

My view, based on 2016, is that the vast majority of Sanders' supporters will take his advice, and work enthusiastically for Biden.

I'd stop insulting them by imagining otherwise. Enough of that. The end.

That leaves Sanders' intransigently hostile populists, who are already headed out to find another banner to make trouble under, and his whacko fringe. The practical difference between clinical insanity and self-induced irrationality that refuses reality is effectively nil. Their identity and reason for existence is opposition to the corrupt, corporatist, betraying Democratic Party. As usual, our nominee is such a terrible person that he only affirms their duty to oppose our depraved party.

Fellow whackos and wannabe false leaders are already circling to prey on their delusions, but for now they're a needy and very unhappy little following without a leader. But that's their problem,
nothing to waste our attention on. Anyway, apparently some obscure person they haven't identified yet ( ) in the Green Party will inherit the support of most.

But the media loves to search for them, the better to create media friendly headlines about Democrats in disarray.

anything around. As Sanders' support within the Democratic Party -- the support that really matters -- shifts to Biden, the remnant, who were always different, becomes enormously less irrelevant. No numbers, no organization, no power.

Remembering when a little group happily chatted about maybe going to the convention last time; from what I saw, never got past discussing maybe getting tshirts in a matching color.

Of course huge, organized opposition will be hammering us, but we're talking about Sanders' own supporters.

And again, let's stop insulting Democrats by confusing them with these others.

I wish I could say different but they aren't voting for Biden. As of right now anyway. If shit gets worse they may do it but there is a lot of angry folk out there who wanted Bernie and think he got screwed and and do not support "centrist" candidates.

I have seen a lot of people on FB expressing the sentiment that what centrists don't understand is that not only do (Sanders Supporters) want Trump out of office, they want centrists out too.

I can understand being disappointed. I worked in Illinois for Warren. But in November, there will be 2 actual candidates. And only one of the two is sane.

He should speak to his supporters, by social media, and email messages. This is not even a case of the perfect being the enemy of the good, this is a case of voting for a lunatic, or an excellent, if imperfect, candidate.

If these Sanders supporters are truly politically aware, they already know that there is only only sane choice.
