Trump is leading the country into a death trap!

His mindless idea of opening the country’s economy before it needs to be, will cost more people their lives and all he will say “I am not responsible for those peoples’ lives”! The scary part of the sorry idea? The economy will never recover fully enough to make difference! He will try to say “ it was a good idea and we lost very few, maybe one or two died”? I want to see thing back to normal just everyone else, but we have to allow this pandemic to be gone! This my soapbox thread for the day! Stay safe and keep your space 6 ft a part!

... allow follow up.

We need a minimum testing rate per capita nationwide.

...it that we need to know who has it at a random sample rate.

This bug is worse than the Alien in Aliens cause it waits more than 3 days before it bust out and kills everything.

I do see they do political opinion polls with sample sizes of 1000-2000 people.

7. I avoided getting infected with covid-19 on a crowded cruise at end of February

On a crowded cruise it was impossible to stay 6 feet away in theaters, lounges and buffet dining rooms.
The cruise ended on Feb 29th, when many passengers on other ships were famously getting infected.
Most of the crew on Carnival Ecstasy ship was from SE Asia and China. I think my simple technique saved me from infection.
My main thing was wash hands with soap and warm water after touching anything others may have touched.
If hand washing had to wait until I could get to a rest room, I made it a point to avoid touching any part of my face until hands were washed.

15. Did anybody get infected on your particular ship?

If no, your hand-washing likely had nothing to do with you not getting covid. You ship just was lucky that no one infected got on it.

18. I have no way to know, no one was tested on the cruise ship

But I was worried because almost entire crew was from countries near China, and also from many from China itself.
Most passengers were older than age 50, and represented dozens of states so they all scattered when cruise was over.
The cruise company made us sign a statement that we had not traveled recently to China, but if someone lied, there was no way for them to check.
My wife and I use cruise cards (not passports) and cruise card looks like your drivers license. It does not show where you have been.

call off the stay at home order tomorrow and tell all to go out a buy stuff, would you do it? She said NO! I won't go out until I feel it's safe for me, and that's sure not in the foreseeable future. I think that most people will respond the same way.

I don't think my company will go for it either. They are too afraid of lawsuits. There are many of us who are able to wfh a few days a week as it is. They certainly can't make us shop or go to events or travel. Most of aren't that stupid. We won't go out like we did before until there is a vaccine or until the number of cases has dropped down to a negligible level and getting a test is free and as available as getting a flu shot.
