The power of the Internet.

So I read an earlier discussion on here about a conversation on the Daily Beast about pictures from Libya of people supporting Americans. I thought this was awesome. What I thought was even more awesome, was that there was a man from Libya who commented this:

hello every one, iam a libyan from benghzi and I would realy like to give my deep condolances to the family of Mr stevens and to all the American people and also my condolances gose to the libyan people for losing such a great man........ 100% of the libyans are so sad when they heared the news, those how did this are no more terroristes and we will bring them to justis soon.

Awesomeness right?

And then there was this douchebag:

Thank you. Now go tell your friends to stay out of the way of our Marines headed your way.

So this was my reply to him:

Sir, it is because of people like you that a lot of the world hates Americans. Hate begets hate. It is a vicious cycle. My heart goes out to the people we lost, but it also goes out to the people of Libya. You judge their people based on the actions of a few, just as they judge us on the actions of a few as well. Unfortunately, the people you choose to judge an entire culture of people on are the few that choose to use hate as the basis of their ideologies. And people judge us on the few people like you that choose to use hate as the basis of your ideologies. This is exactly what we do not need in this day in age. More hate, more of our troops being used as status symbols of that hate, and more people being ignorant of other cultures.

First, I was very glad that the man from Libya liked my response. And then, I had a friend request from a Muslim from Morocco, which I gladly accepted.

My friends, this is the power of the Internet. Within half an hour, I had reached out to people halfway across the world, and they touched my heart more than you can know.

And do you know, that woman who gave me a friend request, I posted on her wall:
Thank you friend.
And she replied back, literally, "that is the magic of the Internet."

That touched my heart.
We have the world at our fingertips, lets use it for good.

been here for a few years, just don't post very often. I could not resist this one though. I was so happy.
