I made a couple out of a t shirt but I can't breathe and my glasses fog up. I only need them to go to the store.

(17,635 posts)...I belong to Rebate Key and they had a box of 30 paper masks for 29$ which was half off. Check out ETSY if you want to support artists. I have one N95 that was left over from forest fires but mostly I use the cute silk scarves I bought ages ago in France and until lately havent had any place to wear them! Sometimes I tie the scarf over the paper mask.

(51,308 posts)I dont have much trouble breathing through them, and Im in and out of any store in a flash. I have some regular surgical masks, but I dont like the trouble of tying them. The dust masks have elastic.
Ive made some bandanna masks too, but I so rarely go out around people that Ive not had to use them. I dont wear a mask when out walking my dogs.

(18,870 posts)but it's taking about 3 weeks right now.
Now. masks may be different because they might be given priority.

(44,974 posts)Including some cotton masks. It depends on whether the item you are ordering is from amazon or third party seller.
Never had any issues with orders that come from amazon itself. Third party seller is another story, some of them might never even send you what they are supposed to send you. Amazon should however refund the money.

(7,719 posts)I got burned for $40. As soon as I ordered them, ebay sent a message they removed the sellers account. Now Im trying to get money back, but doubt Ill ever see a dime!

(20,878 posts)I too bought some face masks said to be from a seller in Kentucky. I kept waiting and waiting and the listing had been pulled by ebay for some unknown reason.
When I went to check the feedback, it said the person was in China.
I filed a complaint and I said I feared they were contaminated.
Said seller sent me an address to send them back which turned out to be a fake address.
I got my money back in this case, but never again ebay, never.
As for masks, I have four N95s I bought a long time ago.
I do not believe for one second that a piece of cloth will do much good unless it is made out of microfiber.
The molecules are very small and can easily pass through almost any mask out there other the elusive N95 and perhaps one made out of microfiber. This is just my opinion for what it may be worth.

(7,715 posts)Got 100 disposable medical masks. Not N95.
I don't know if they still have them. Doesn't look so from this:

(7,715 posts)Somehow, they made it impossible to cancel the order. Ordered masks that took forever to arrive. I was finally able to contact the seller who tried to convince me to not cancel. I was on the Amazon chat on Friday regarding another order (totally unrelated) and was able to finally cancel the mask order there.
I've never had that issue through Amazon.
Also, I ordered a UV light for disinfecting via Amazon. It was something like $129. I saw the same thing on Ebay for about $30 and wound up getting it there. As long as it's from a highly rated seller, I have always had excellent luck on Ebay.
I'm beginning to be a bit dubious about Amazon. It used to never fail us, on price, delivery, and service. Now, off and on, it's failing on all three.

(44,974 posts)For highly sought after items such as masks.
I had several orders refunded also.
So look for items that amazon itself sells. I haven't got any problems with those.

(5,073 posts)Mostly we're donating them to medical centers and essential businesses, but I've never turned down a request from an individual (and I make them to the same standards that the medical places require). If you're on Facebook, poke at mask makers in your area. If you have any community lists or sites, ask who's making masks.

(23,156 posts)I have high cheekbones and large glasses so already have problem with sweating under my eyes. When I wear a mask midway on my nose, my glasses immediately fog up and I'm nearly blind without them. I was determined to find a way that worked and when I pulled it up higher on my head with the strings, it worked, no fogging. I had 1 N95 mask, but I couldn't see it fogged so bad. Wish I could wear contacts and avoid this problem.

(2,225 posts)First-Aid-Products.com. I ordered 3-ply procedural masks from them. Theyre not always in stock but if you keep checking you can find them. The masks have the metal strip that you can bend to fit the bridge of your nose. If I get a good bend and put on my glasses so the bottom edge of the frame sits just over the top edge of the mask, I dont get fogged up very much!!

(2,225 posts)I also ordered Isopropyl alcohol from them-took about the same amount of time. I just used standard delivery so thats why it took that long. You can pay extra for faster shipping.

(2,225 posts)I did my homework/research before I ordered and used a cc instead of my debit card in case there was a problem-easier to dispute. Ive gotten other items from them as well and everything has been fine!

(34,087 posts)Slide a 4" piece inside the upper seam, and bend it around the bridge of your nose. The steam is because your moist breath is escaping pout of the top of your mask.

(2,198 posts)I ordered 3 N95 masks weeks ago for $19 and received just one shitty surgical mask.
Here are the comments for the seller: https://www.amazon.com/sp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=0&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&orderID=111-7342797-9098626&seller=A1HO5CFDLY0VT6&tab=&vasStoreID=

(44,974 posts)I got couple of orders refunded or cancelled because the masks never arrived or weren't shipped. Amazon is prioritizing N95s to health care professionals -I am assuming from those sellers that actually do have these masks.
I had no problems getting cotton masks however. Or other items, such as first aid kit, UV light sanitizing box, gloves, etc.
I wear cotton masks for low risk situations.

(2,198 posts)And then my local Lions club ordered KN95 masks for the club and others, 2 for $10 packaged nicely with alcohol wipes and such.
A very nice effort by one of the club's superstars, Lions went from eye-care to flu prevention, at least locally!
ETA: The K in KN95 denotes made in China.

(36,511 posts)It connects you to your local community. You have to enter your address, but I've found the site very helpful. People post about traffic conditions, lost and found dogs and cats, what's going on with City Council, and all sorts of stuff. Recently there have been many offers to sell homemade masks at very reasonable costs and you can get them quickly.
I've never tried this, but I read if you wash your glasses with shaving cream they won't fog up. If you try it, let me know!
Good luck!
