Americans at World Health Organization transmitted real-time information about coronavirus to Trump administration
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/americans-at-world-health-organization-transmitted-real-time-information-about-coronavirus-to-trump-administration/2020/04/19/951c77fa-818c-11ea-9040-68981f488eed_story.html
More than a dozen U.S. researchers, physicians and public health experts, many of them from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were working full time at the Geneva headquarters of the World Health Organization as the novel coronavirus emerged late last year and transmitted real-time information about its discovery and spread in China to the Trump administration, according to U.S. and international officials.
A number of CDC staffers are regularly detailed to work at WHO in Geneva as part of a rotation that has operated for years. Senior Trump-appointed health officials also consulted regularly at the highest levels with the WHO as the crisis unfolded, the officials said.
The presence of so many U.S. officials undercuts President Trumps charge that the WHOs failure to communicate the extent of the threat, born of a desire to protect China, is largely responsible for the rapid spread of the virus in the United States.

(2,313 posts)In review, The Times of Israel covers Israeli and regional news with minimally loaded language such as this: US envoy suggests world should rethink PA aid after Israeli teen killed by bomb. This particular story relies on Twitter as the primary source. In another story, Ex-Iraqi PM warns Israel of strong response if it proves to be behind strikes, the primary source is the New York Times. The Times of Israel also relies on news agencies for content such as the Associated Press and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The website also features a blog with a wide variety of writers. The blog posts tend to use more emotional wording and are generally opinion oriented. A review of several blog post indicate a left leaning editorial bias with articles such as this: What Trump really (maybe) meant by calling Jewish Democrats disloyal. When covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict they usually are objective and cover both sides fairly, such as this: IDF strikes fresh Hamas targets after 2nd rocket fired from Gaza Strip. In general, the Times of Israel is factual with a slight left leaning editorial bias.
A factual search reveals they have not failed a fact check.
Overall, we rate the Times of Israel Left-Center biased based on editorial positions that slightly favor the left. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record. (D. Van Zandt 12/5/2016) Updated (8/23/2019)

(15,325 posts)True evil grows more evil with power. Look what Hitler became. Remember the evil he committed before the world was finally made aware. It's the same thing as what's going on with Trump.
He has to be stopped.

(2,597 posts)I'm increasingly more worried by the minute that we we're not going to have a GE this November. I know constitutionally he couldn't do that legally. Who would stop him? None of the retrumplicans in the Senate would. They had a chance and took a pass. The 25thA could be invoked, but his cronies in cabinet-level posts won't support that. As I see it, there's only one way he'd be stopped and that would be because of a mortal infection, a physical catastrophe or by mayhem. I'd settle for any one or all of these, frankly.

(9,090 posts)GOP senators know they cant maintain anything close to majority without their talk radio advantage. most know they can't win without it. it also keeps them all in line, with limbaugh leading the way for his friend and co-putin tool trump,
not only does the ad industry have to think about a talk radio future without limbaugh (with lung cancer) they need to realize artificial intelligence-enhanced transcription and monitoring makes a stoprush x 100 inevitable.
it wouldn't take much activism before the ad indusrty would have to force the break up of the monopoly
without all those locally coordinated radio stations to make excuses for the trump asskissing they've been doing they're doomed.
they'd stop being afraid of limbaugh and trump and some of them would revolt and try to take back their party from the putin/limbaugh/trump teabags
it wouldnt take many

(182,877 posts)As was reported a few weeks ago.
Trump owned himself thinking he was "Owning the Libs". He can't get out of the spiral now. This latest report erases (in the real world) anything he thought he could get out of the CDC contamination report yesterday.
When. Did. You. Know. It. all over again.

(9,090 posts)- all through oct 2014 mueller subject jerome corsi wrote every day about it at World Net Daily and limbauagh used it more than a dozen times, and then it all stopped after the election - why the fuck doesn't the media put 2 and 2 together?
if it worked then why not for covid? at some level they convinced the orange idiot, who referenced ebola back then for some reason, that it would be better than the 2019 congo ebola they were going to use (rw radio, llimbaugh were ramping it up and prepping their teabag dittoheads, they were overcrowding the detention camps, talking about congolese immigrants joining 'caravans') and the fucking orange idiot was too stupid to realize it was 1000x as complicated and harder to control
where the fuck is media? ddem investigators also need to look into it

(9,090 posts)what republican or russian think tanks are pumping out of 1500 coordinated radio stations 15 hrs a day to 50 mil a week
dems don't even poll for it and usually only know what's going on after it shows up, sometimes weeks and months later on fox - and then they laugh at it
if limbaugh gives it that much time it's important, not because maybe he thought it was important, but because he was prompted to push it

(31,261 posts)He fired the very (or had resign, whatever) competent CDC head that President Obama had in place and put in a person like Redfield. My guess is that Redfield increasingly made the CDC headquarters a hellish place to work for any truly competent person. The people assigned to the WHO likely had been there for a while fore filling their roles, they may have left for those roles under President Obama, if such roles work like high level business assignments. Redfield and Trump pulled a key group of CDC scientists out of China in 2019, a literal canary in the coalmine group.

(31,261 posts)in China. You know, the group of people that relayed back to the White House that they had concerns about some of the practices in that lab? Trump likely didn't want to start a tiff with a dictator who he admires, so he let that team go instead of confronting Yi about the problems that American researchers were reporting.

(2,055 posts)And not even a good political decision:
1. Be transparent and take the lead
2. Rally the country around an effective public health response
3. Rally Congress around a comprehensive economic support plan
4. Ride the increased approval into the election
Every choice his clown show makes is wrong and everything he touches turns to crap.

Any attempt to impeach him again will simple backfire politically on our side, even if fact back impeachment. We simply need to get past our differences and vote as a group to remove him from office.

(36,827 posts)The truly scary part is while you are wondering how anyone can believe this utter shitstain of a human being, someone you know repeats these things as if there's even one iota of truth to them.
That's when you realize the GOP isn't a political party anymore, it's literally a cult. It's a cult that simply repeats lies over and over until its adherents know them by heart and will simply repeat them without any critical thinking. It's a cult that actively seeks to stamp out any and all voices of dissent, no matter how trivial, even from within their own cult.
