Perhaps the extremists in this case are US RW conservatives who have collaborated with Netanyahu and others to discredit President Obama. The 1 % certainly has the money to pay for their own paramilitary or "gang of thugs". The money would be no issue. Who knows who actually made the movie?? It seems it spread in Egypt and the Middle East more so than the US.
I know it sounds paranoid and I'm would even admit that I do feel paranoid regarding the political events these days but I can imagine, for example, Netanyahu, Romney, Sheldon Adelson & others of their conservative ilk orchestrating the storming of the US Consulate in Benghazi to create an event that would reflect poorly on President Obama.
I'm just throwing these ideas of mine out here--say I'm crazy--but it seems Romney looked so smugly delighted about this opportunity to criticize the President and that he cared not one iota for the precious lives that were lost nor if he even got the facts correct (which is also no surprise).
I think the Repukes are getting desperate and will do anything to, as they vowed, make sure President Obama would serve only one term.
What say You lovely Dems??? Am I crazy??
(sometimes I think it's better to be crazy than face reality anyways these days)

(4,949 posts)This is just giving R & R something to work with as they really had nothing before.
They created the mud they are slinging at President Obama. Not that they wouldn't spin anything against Him!
But international leadership is a great plus for the incumbency now and perhaps they decided to simply create their own international disaster!!
To me, IMHO, this is a possibility!

(38,613 posts)Though nothing would surprise me. The guy who claims to have worked with the producer of the movie certainly sounds like a right-winger.

Since then, they've funded conspiracy pundits to create an alternate reality percolating through the population. The film below was just the strongest one, but there have been a series of them, pushing themes we see often in media and the internet:
The Obama Deception: The Mask Comes Off

We hear a lot of the world view he pushes. Koch money is inolved, but the followers ignore it. They are Baggers, Paulites, Libertarians, Pro-LIfers and 9/11 Truthers. Jones says the NRA doesn't support the Second Amendment enough. But take a read:

Then their latest epic is described here and the same themes have been used by Romney:
2016: Obama's America
President Obama's campaign has issued a response to "2016: Obama's America," the anti-Obama documentary directed by author Dinesh D'Souza and John Sullivan. Obama's camp has dismissed the film as "an insidious attempt to dishonestly smear the president."
"2016: Obama's America" is a documentary based on the 2010 book "The Roots of Obama's Rage," written by D'Souza, which claims Obama's interests lie in an anti-colonial agenda that will ultimately hinder America's growth and progress. The film has been in the headlines since it picked up steam in the box office after a wide release on Aug. 24. To date, it is the No. 2 highest-grossing political documentary behind Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," earning $26 million total, according to Deadline.com...
Variety called it a cavalcade of conspiracy theories, psycho-politico conjectures and incendiary labeling and the Los Angeles Times criticized it as badly disguised and overly long attack ad.
