Would it bother you to see a huge SUV parked in one of these spots?

One of our local malls offers special parking stalls for low emissions and hybrid vehicles. You can see a pic below:

The car parked in the pic is my fathers hybrid.

More than once now I've seen people park large SUVs (non hynrid ones) and trucks in these spots. I remember seeing one that looked like an F150 only they had modified it to be even larger. It just seemed like such a clear "fuck you" sign. I mean I know a lot of people here think that driving an SUV is such a sign to begin with, and I don't disagree with you, but this goes an extra mile.

1. Only reserved parking space should be for handicapped people. All others are first come first

serve. However, if I had an SUV and saw where it said small well I sure wouldn't park there. But you know my pet peeve is seeing non-handicap cars parked in handicapped spots. When I see that I call the police.

it's not illegal or anything for others to park there. I'm not saying that it should be illegal either. I just feel pissed off to see it.

There seems to be a very strong "hunh, can't tell me what to do!" in certain parts of this culture. People who drive gas guzzling hogs will park in compact car spots just to prove nobody gets to tell them anything.

Considering they're traded to idiot city councilpersons for increased density or lower tap fees, I'd park a cement truck in them if I had one. Development should pay its own way -- not "wow" elected officials with the latest useless eye candy to misrepresent to voters.

Why should an owner of a hybrid or electric vehicle get preferred parking?

Has a Wrangler lifted on 35" mud terrain tires, with snorkel, front winch, and all the other standard off road gear.

He always parks in the "Green vehicles only" spots at BestBuy.

He isnt really breaking the rules though. His Jeep is painted green after all.

A sign pandering to low emission and hybrid vehicles stinks of a feel-good but otherwise vacuous green-washing attempt. There is no logical explanation for this parking restriction.
