Putin Thanks Romney for Reminding Him That America Is Almost 50% Dumbass

ABC News says Vladimir Putin has thanked Mitt Romney for calling Russia the United States' #1 geopolitical foe, because it has "strengthened his resolve to oppose NATO’s plan for a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe."

“I’m grateful to him (Romney) for formulating his stance so clearly because he has once again proven the correctness of our approach to missile defense problems,” Putin told reporters, according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

“The most important thing for us is that even if he doesn’t win now, he or a person with similar views may come to power in four years. We must take that into consideration while dealing with security issues for a long perspective,” he said, speaking after a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, according to Interfax news agency.

8. Putin 'thanking' Romney is real; the 'dumbass' is the author's comment on it

Putin really did say he was 'grateful' to Romney, for being a clear example of why Russia shouldn't trust American politicians, and he pointed out that even if you're sure Romney won't get elected, someone like him might in a future election. And the writer Paul Constant (who's done some excellent pieces on the election - I recommend checking them out) has put that as "America Is Almost 50% Dumbass" - ie nearly half of the USA leans Republican.

I just got a copy of Joe Bageant's "Waltzing at the Doomsday Ball" (2011) the other day and I'm reminded all over again by his writings and a wish that we could believe it wasn't so seemingly chronic and terminal.

His last essay before he died, I think, and possibly his best.
