I'm far from a defender of Andrea Mitchell, but she was only saying that "both sides are guilty" of putting out combative press releases constantly. Which is undoubtedly true. But she was utterly shocked that the Romney campaign had put out a political press release while the embassies were under attack. That was the whole fucking point of her interview -- that what the Romney campaign had done was unprecedented.

When the likes of Andrea Mitchell react like that, it's very significant. And it's important that we see that it's going on, instead of getting hung up ritualistically on some phrase.

To call the press release behavoir of the two parties equivalent.

And that is what I am objecting to.

And it is worth objecting to.

IMO.

She said both sides are guilty of sending out a barrage of press releases on many issues, but never has she seen a campaign do this at a time of national crisis when American interests are under attack. She was absolutely clear in saying that this was extremely unusual behavior.

Both sides send a lot of press releases. Sounds plausible to me.

And she said what Romney did is unprecedented.

To equate the lies, distortions and fable-based reality that the current Republican party operates under with the explanations and information that the democratic party puts out.

I NEVER watch that woman. How much money does she really need anyway? Retire already. Let some young up and coming take her place. And it's not an age issue, it's a money issue. Between her and her husband, they probably have more money than they could spend. ENOUGH! And she spouts off Repuke talking points. "Both sides do it" FU Mrs.Greenspan.

This kind of false equivalency is extremely evil.

It is the same thing as saying both parties are the same.

It is a voter suppression tactic as evil and corrosive as the Voter ID laws, and registration roll purges.

She said both campaigns send out a lot of press releases. An unprecedented amount. She didn't say they were the same. And what she said was not false. She was (at least this time) being objective. You're not.

I am focused on the "both sides are GUILTY of this" aspect of her meaning.

It is not the same to report a fact as it is to put out a press release that you think will advance your standing in the polls.

She said she had NEVER seen a presidential candidate on EITHER side act as Romney did, her phrasing was rather poor, which is not uncommon for her imo, but her intent seem to be to come down on Romney as opposed to the President.
