To defeat the Republican, you must become the Republican...

I don't mean becoming a racist, sexist, xenophobic bible-thumper; I mean applying cold-hearted, emotionless decision-making as to which candidates you'll support financially. Think about the Koch Brothers. Did they target Bernies Sanders and Elizabeth Warren in past elections? No, they targeted vulnerable Democrats like Heidi Heitkamp and Claire McCaskill in Republican-friendly States. They didn't focus on people they hated; they focus on people they could defeat.

As we look forward to the 2020 Senate races, we must apply the same dispassionate logic. Don't focus on Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham: defeating them would be emotionally satisfying but the odds are still incredibly long (yes McGrath and Harrison outraged them in the 1st Quarter of 2020, but they still have WAY more money and political support in place). Instead, focus on the vulnerable Republicans: McSally, Gardner, Collins, Tillis. THEN, if you still have financial resources, look at the second tier pickup opportunities: Loeffler, Ernst and Kobach. Don't play the long shots.

We must get a Dem Senate, and get McConnell out the Majority Leader position no matter what.

We must learn to attack, to attack viciously, to attack incessantly, to be unfair and revel in being unfair when we attack, to not give a damn about the moral high ground but take the goddamn hilltop and once we have it, fortify it and clear lines of sight and fire to hold it.

Our ends are different than theirs, and it is that which makes us better, not fighting fair or being decent in a struggle against a demonic foe.

We must understand once and for all that the business of politics is gaining and holding power, of being the who who tells whom what's what. Too often we behave as if politics is a theater for display of our virtue and rectitude. That is a deadly error.

Truly words to make the spirit soar and the blood run hot with martial resolve to engage the battle ahead!

In my mind, having read your post, I lept upon a horse, took up my weapons, and charged with a roar: "Death to Republicans!"

Do you have any ideas about the best time to make contributions for Senate races? I have limited funds to donate, and I'd like to make those funds available in time to do the most good. (But the longer I wait, the better polling data I have to help me decide who gets the money.)

Last time I donated to Heitkamp, McCaskill, & Rosen. (Also Stacey Abrams, but that's local.)

Cunningham (NC): Toss-up race, Primary resolved
Gideon (ME): She's ahead of Collins in current polling
Hickenlooper is very likely to be the nominee for CO, but you might want to wait to be sure.

I would not invest in Kelly at this point (he's actually well ahead and has a massive war chest.

If we lose Doug Jones those four would only put us at 50/50. We're going to have to invest heavily to try and save him and look for a couple others as well.
