(15,242 posts)Of course, how the testing is applied can be more important that the raw numbers of people tested. We've had no organized strategy for testing here on top of the low rate.

22 CV tests per 1000 people over a 60 million population in Italy
11 CV tests per 1000 people over a 328 million population in US
If we use Italy as the baseline, US should be running 122 CV tests per 1000 people to be on par with the rate of testing in Italy. Our test rate needs to be increased.
(US population is 5.5 times that of Italy, so 5.5 *22 = 122)

(15,242 posts)...relative population has already been taken into account. If we got up to 22 per 1000, then we'd be on par with Italy's testing rate -- no further adjustment for relative population needed.
