It is not Chuck Schumer. It is not Nancy Pelosi. If it were possible, it would already have been done.
It is not John Roberts or the Supreme Court.
It is the Majority Leader of the US Senate.
If he had a sense of history and cared about our nation, he could do it. He knows as well as anyone else that Donald Trump is not fit to be the President of the United States.
He could get at least half of his caucus to vote along with him, if he so desired. Those that are not up for re-election in 2020 understand the dangerous strategy of keeping Trump in power. So that they can possibly win re-election for the couple of dozen Senators that are running in 2020, they do nothing, as their nation dies on the vine.
McConnell could get it done. If he had a sense of history and how he is going to be perceived by historians and the US public, he would do the honorable thing and protect his country from the domestic threat it now faces.
He could work in a bi-partisan way to correct course and put this country back on a path to healing. But it would require sacrifice. And sacrifice is obviously not in Mitch's vocabulary.

(6,371 posts)As bad as Trump is and as bad as Mitch is...the fact that Mitch has to ride Trump's coattails in KY to get elected says a lot about the state. And I say that with a lot of democrats friends in Northern KY. They just can't counterbalance the rural rage that's pervasive throughout the state.

(5,865 posts)It didn't work for Obama. To continually pursue it is akin to battered spouse sydnrome. We must not trust them. We must crush them. They are dangerous and do not share a kind and sane vision for this country's future. THey must not be given the keys to the car again. That must be our goal. Otherwise, we deserve what we get.

(17,567 posts)He is a key man of a very successful mob. He has no desire to see the idiot Don gone. With Trump out of the way, his successor may be harder to manipulate. Trump provides a distraction for Mitch to continue his substantial and lasting dirty work. Mitch's lasting work will be nearly impossible to overturn even with a complete Democratic takeover of the House, the Senate and the White House. His will be a lasting legacy of evil.
Trump is the smoke and mirrors of the magicians trick. Keep your eyes on the hands.
