Background: we owed taxes in 2018 & 2019, so I had to provide our bank info thru the IRS Get My Payment portal, which I did last Weds. The site acknowledges that we are eligible and that they have our bank info, but there hasnt been the promised notification on when our $ will arrive.
We are both on SS, so the IRS has our info from that source as well.
As of today, nothing is happening.

We owe taxes so no direct deposit on file and IRS site will not let me enter one. According to some websites our AGI indicates to expect a check sometime in July?

The poor people who must depend on paper checks are in a real mess. There's no telling how long they'll be waiting for their "tRUmp campaign" check.

(68,607 posts)Also beginning this week, the Internal Revenue Service will begin issuing paper checks on a weekly basis to people who have not provided direct deposit information but have a mailing address on record with the IRS, according to an April 16 report by the House Committee on Ways & Means.
They'll join tens of millions of taxpayers who saw their stimulus money directly deposited into their bank accounts last week, including many of those who filed 2018 or 2019 tax returns and had given the IRS their bank account information to be used for direct deposit of their income tax refunds.

Some retirees saw their money last week; others will this week.

What's important to note: Some receiving Social Security benefits will receive their payments as a direct deposit or by mail, just as they would normally receive their benefits. This applies if you receive an SSA-1099 or RRB-1099 and do not make enough money during the year to normally have to file a tax return.
About 25 million to 30 million Social Security beneficiaries and recipients of Supplemental Security Income typically are not required to file federal income tax returns. As a result, they're likely to be in the next rounds of payments.
As more people see stimulus cash up to $1,200 for individuals and up to $2,400 for a couple many worries will go away.
However, the headaches and confusion aren't vanishing for everyone.
Various situations in your own life could mean that you'd need to wait a few more weeks or even months to see a direct deposit of money into a bank account, onto a prepaid card or see a stimulus payment payment arrive in the mail.
Here's a look at a few specific situations:
Veterans will be waiting a bit longer
We don't know yet when some veterans will receive the stimulus payments. But the IRS, working with the Treasury Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs, reached a solution that will enable some automatic payments.
The IRS said veterans and their beneficiaries who receive compensation and pension benefit payments will receive a $1,200 Economic Impact Payment without needing to file extra forms.
"Timing on the payments is still being determined," the IRS said April 17.
"Since many VA recipients typically aren't required to file tax returns, the IRS had to work with these other government agencies to determine a way to quickly and accurately deliver Economic Impact Payments to this group," said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.
Rettig noted in a statement that additional programming work remains.

(258 posts)I got a refund in 2018 and owed this year. I used the same bank account for the payment and debit. I understand that, because I used H&R Block tax software, there is some snafu due to the use of a temporary bank. When I checked the IRS tool last week, I was informed I was eligible for a payment, but that the IRS had no bank info for me. I input my info and have been getting the same message as you - Im eligible for payment, but theres no payment date.
Meanwhile, my son (who also used the H&R Block software) got his stimulus check last Wednesday. It makes no sense.

Not sure if the fact they came together is simple coincidence or not.
I do file every year, and typically get a very small refund, which was true this year. My taxable income is on the low side, which may have helped, as supposedly they are sending it out starting with the lowest income filers first.

(4,533 posts)I think 80 million will have gotten deposits into banks by month end. But more than 80 million eligible people still havent gotten money. Almost all will get physical checks. IRS can only print and mail a million checks per day, five days per week. So it will take until Sept for all checks to launch. The plan is that week one which will be this month will be for those with tax return adjusted gross incomes zero to $10,000. Week two $10,000 to $20,000. Week 3 20,000 to 30,000 until they get to couples making 198,000 or less, the maximum eligible. Look at your agi on 2019, or 2018 if your 2019 return has not yet been processed, and you can figure out roughly when your check will launch.

I hope my mom gets hers also. Site has no status available for her. She gets direct deposit through Social Security.
My family always had a nice middle class life. My dad was a scientist for a long time and worked with Dr. Fauci at NIH when he was young. But after dad lost his most recent job, times got hard. I dont work and my mom also does not. We also had a lot of bills for dads cancer. Moms SS is her only income. We both really need the money.
My moms did not. Wish I could find out where it is.
