How systemic US racism informs and motivates the COVID19 response.

In my view, one of the main factors behind the GOP response to the COVID19 crisis is racism. We know that racism is foundational to the GOP messaging, and has been since 1968. No matter the issue, racism is at the core.

And we all know that minorities suffer from unequal access to healthcare, unequal access to safe housing, unequal access to jobs, and unequal access to polling places. So the minority voice is muffled, and minorities have a lower life expectancy, and higher rates of many chronic diseases.

When we hear right wing commentators speak of reopening the states, and that this disease mainly affects the elderly, and those with underlying medical conditions, and the poor, we are being told to ignore the minority population that is most affected.

But the lunacy behind this right wing response should be clear to all but Trump supporters. If the states reopen, many of these businesses depend heavily on low paid, minority labor. And the lack of testing means that asymptomatic, low paid workers will be spreading the virus to the customers of these businesses.

So the next, inevitable spike, will impact even Trump voters. And who will Trump blame then? The Governors, of course. Even GOP Governors will be blamed by Trump.

Divide, and steal all the money as people point fingers at each other.

been the Game Plan since 1947 and this would have happened sooner if not for Truman's Election in 1948. The Billionaire Class had all their ducks lined up,but, the American people said bullshit and voted for Harry.

We are seeing the same Story play out today, just hope the American Public says Bullshit and votes for Biden because the alternative is anarchy and a repeat of 1864.

Any reading of US politics from 1968 to the present cannot avoid the open racism of the GOP.
