Sometimes you just gotta wonder about people

I've had to take a couple of my vehicles to the shop for one thing or another. Magazines gone, gloves in use, everything clean. Run by nice, smart people. I went today and they had put up something like 3'x4' plexiglas shield over the counter. Even better, I thought. Then, from more than 6' away, I had a chat with the owner.

She made two comments. One almost funny, the other scary. The funny bit? Many customers, mainly the older ones she said, will step to one side or the other of the shield and, from maybe 3 feet away, talk to the owner. They just can't seem to "get it." She tells them to step behind the shield, which, thankfully, they do.

The scary bit? The first day it was up, at the end of the day she noticed that there were specks on the outside of the shield - the customer side. Once behind the shield, she said most customers were 6' away. Nevertheless, there were specks of what could only be spittle, just from normal conversation.

First, ewww.

Second, ewwwwww.

Third - holy crap, this is ridiculous.
