NOTHING ELSE.
He has NO CHANCE of being reelected without a good economy, and the GOP knows this, and they are terrified.

(7,947 posts)It took 2 years after the 2008 crash, and that was with the very steady and thoughtful Obama in charge.
This is much worse, and the states that reopen like Georgia are going to have more deaths now.

(13,776 posts)The way that news anchors and the people they're talking to have glitches in their conversations because of the satellite delay, the responses to whatever actions the GOP governors take are going to be choppy.
The GOP will open some states, there'll be a three-week delay before the essential workers and the give-me-liberty-and-give-me-death folks start drowning on their own fluids, they'll close things back up but there will be more people this time spreading it around so the second peak will be even more horrific... rinse and repeat.

(16,616 posts)Soon, almost everyone will know somebody or know somebody who knows somebody who died or is forever changed by contracting this virus, or knows a doctor or medical professional who is thoroughly disgusted by what is being allowed to happen, not to mention that this virus will hit red states and Fox Newsers especially hard.
This idea that the economy can be resurrected because Trump says so is a notion I don't accept. A hundred other countries have a say in the matter. Oil, supply lines and trade routes, and supply and demand, also have a say in the matter.
Lastly, at the end of the day, individuals have to decide, "Is it worth it to go out today? Is it worth it to get a Big Mac, see a baseball game, go to a party?" I don't know too many people who will be hungering for risk right now.

(16,929 posts)At first (early March) I wasn't too worried - actually went to New Jersey to hear Al Franken on March 8, looking across the river at NYC as I left the event!
As the weeks went by and I saw the number explode I'm thinking "OMG, I was in the middle of that!"
(by the way, I paid for a "Meet&Greet" with Al - we did an "elbow-bump!" )
By the grace of God I'm doing fine - but I am in NO hurry to "get out there" and have tried to limit my "out-of-house" time to once a week if not longer!
I'm a "lone blue" in a county of "red" and I just sit inside and wave "Bye-bye" to them as they go off to demand their "freedumb" - and hope I've not waved "bye-bye" to them for the last time.
