Hell hath no fury than an Aspi mom with a keyboard!

Last edited Thu Sep 13, 2012, 09:42 PM - Edit history (1)

I am normally very patient and nice but I have seen the "does Romney have Asperger" thing for weeks now and enough is enough. This was certainly not to be construed as any kind of personal attack. I wasn't thinking of any person in particular when I said what I said it was just a general statement.

I would be happy to tell you about people with aspergers

How I believe they are more evolved than we are because they are so incredibly smart
They are artistic, musical and incredibly talented with electronics or anything mechanical
THey are loving and kind and will scream for the car to stop so we don't accidentally hit a butterfly
A lot of they time they don't know how to tell you they love you but they can show you.

THey are often lonely because the world is very cruel to them
They need people to stand up and advocate for them because they are incapable of processing cruelty and anger fast enough to defend themselves.
They need people to recognize and appreciate their talents because they often keep to themselves and nothing makes a person with Aspergers light up like praise and positive reinforcement
They need people to teach their peers about Aspergers, and about why they act the way they do, then people can see and appreciate a person with aspergers
You gain so much by knowing them and seeing the world through there eyes
People with aspergers are incredibly honest. Lying is next to impossible and very easy to detect when they try.

Aspergers is a 40 year old man who still plays with toys, who loves his cat more than any human being because his cat has never made fun of him or hurt him.
Aspergers is a 17 year old girl cosplaying her anime characters singing so beautifully that your heart breaks and making you laugh until you pee
Aspergers is a man who is the hardest working, most loving husband god ever put breath in to

These people are so special and deep and difficult to get close to, but if you can get close to them and gain their trust, and you can learn to see the world through their eyes its pretty amazing.

I want you to understand why throwing the word Aspergers around is so wrong and engenders such a visceral reaction.

People with Aspergers have a very high suicide rate because it is difficult to get them services and because people are cruel to them. They may appear to be out of tough or uneffected by the way they are treated, but they feel every taunt and hurt deeply. THey desparately need love and compassion and beleive me we are the ones who benefit by knowing these extrordinary people.
I'm sorry if anyone thought they were being specifically yelled at, that was not the intention but enough is enough folks.

An unimaginative, stiff, privileged, rich kid who has never chosen, or seldom been forced, to deal with anyone outside of his class or anything outside of his comfort zone....yes. Foot-in-Mouth disease...yes, definitely! Aspergers...no.

He is in his 40s, lives alone, works two jobs, very few friends, never had a girlfriend, walking freakin' encyclopedia of 60's and 70s rock music--especially anything about the drums, extremely talented dummer/percussionist himself... the dude is a musical sponge, he can hear anything and just soak it up and ooze it all back out. He does not play a regular gig because his quirky personality freaks people out. He smiles with this big grin and has jerky movements like he has Tourettes around strangers and when he gets excited. When he calls me on the phone we talk for an hour because he cannot take a clue that I want to get off the damn phone.

Drunk maybe once, weed never, cigarette never.

He also has BA in Politcial Science and is one of the most informed citizens I know. He reads like five newspapers a day.

He has enriched my life greatly.

but I agree with you, it's not Aspergers. And thanks for making the points about how we should see that form of uniqueness that you understand so well.

I think Romney is a Narcissist (as in NPD) -- not unusual in politics, many examples. Tone-deaf in the sense of lacking real empathy and interpersonal skills. There is also the question of Traumatic Brain Injury in his case, since he was in a severe car accident in his youth. This can affect behavior and social interactions much later. Romney is one thing one day, one thing the next, a chameleon. Exactly the kind of politician who makes a good puppet for the masterminds pulling his strings. You can't get a good fix on him because there's no there there. That's why he seems so robotic.

is it seems the thread where I scream, yell and swear got more attention than this one. I want to inform and support and love but I guess sometimes you need to scream to get peoples attention.
