It's a national emergency. People are suffering. People are going broke. Small businesses may never recover.
To expect a bill to get everything wanted, and then delay the help and cause more pain is bad government, & bad politics.
I think it's strictly a practical matter of getting this money to those who need help in the fastest way possible.

The time to fight it is when the oil companies are hurting. The Republicans are going to want to save the oil industry. That is when Democratic priorities can move.

I am sick of people who want to shoot the hostage when it is the American worker. Wait until Exxon /Mobil is the hostage when I the big bucks crowd wants to bail them out...then we have leverage.

It may not always be popular but I agree with cutting the deal when our back is against the wall. Getting some of what we want when helping is better than getting none of what we want and not helping.

Sen. Schumer has no particular power in this matter. The judgement to vote for this bill was made by Speaker Pelosi, who unlike Sen. Schumer, does hold a veto power with her majority in the House. If her judgement is that this is the best that could be got at the moment, I am not disposed to argue with her.
