but the name for the war/deployments in Iraq were referred to and Operation Iraqi Freedom (or OIF). I deployed to Iraq from Feb 2004 through Mar 2005, which would have been OIF II.

Well, there was a reason they didn't call it Operation Iraqi Liberation, or OIL - that was a joke I heard time to time while I was still in the military.

You don't give people freedom, you liberate them.

It was only changed after the name was used as a tool against the neo-con's illegal war.

the indication is that it was a planned attack by some militant group, not rioting in the streets. time will tell. egypt is another story but the release of this movie was an intendion to incite, not to produce art.

i think rmoney miscalculated and ruined his backers' plans to make him look ready for foreign affairs.

Libyans are Muslim. That's all that matters to the cartoonist, to DU'ers, and to America at large. Since htye are muslims, they are all irrational, rabid monsters.

Doesn't matter that the protests were due to misinformation. MUSLIMS ARE CRAZY!
Doesn't matter that the attacks came from an established militant group. MUSLIMS ARE SAVAGES!
Doesn't matter that the protestors tried to help against said attackers. MUSLIMS ARE ANIMALS!
Doesn't matter that the Libyans hurried the wounded Americans to the nearest hospital. MUSLIMS WORSHIP DEATH!
Doesn't matter that the people of Benghazi rallied in support and apology for the Americans. MUSLIMS ARE VERMIN!

This is the message in the media. This is the message in DU. This is the message our country is sending back to these people. And some people sit back and think they're Thomas fucking Paine when they criticize the protestors for thinking the US government had some involvement in "The Innocence of Muslims" after being told as much.

It's also a reminder that the majority of Muslims view their extremists as going against the core values of their faith as well. It's part of the path back to peace.

We have enough in common to make inroads if we respect our differences.

Those who committed the crimes should pay for their choice to be violent. The rest of the Muslim world shouldn't be judged by their lunatic fringe.

The "smirk" will live on long past Romney's career.

What is it about "smirks" and republicans? Are they really incapable of genuine facial expressions?

I'm not calling these "toons" because it's so tragic. But, they are very insightful depicting Romney like a "thousand words".

Willard needs to eat those words.
