Chris Cuomo's wife says she's bathed in bleach as she recovers from coronavirus.

I think she has watched too many of Trump's briefings!

“I added ½ cup ONLY of Clorox to a full bath of warm water to combat the radiation and metals in my system and oxygenate it,” Cristina wrote. “We want to neutralize heavy metals because they slow-up the electromagnetic frequency of our cells, which is our energy field, and we need a good flow of energy … There is no danger in doing this.”

but that excerpt is a little woo.

I will say however, if you are having bad bacterial staff infections...not me, but my ex kept getting MRSA
on his forehead and hair. He did bathe in a diluted bleach solution. And we actually finally got rid of it. Took 6 months. That wasn't the only thing we did, but I'm sure it helped. Well, I had to bathe in it too, so I wouldn't get it. I didn't.

And I do know that they medically use it in wound care for decubitus ulcers. There's a product called Vashe and others used for that. It has bleach.

Bleach, or sodium hypochlorite, has antimicrobial activity against S. aureus both in vivo and in vitro. Dilute bleach water baths have traditionally been recommended by dermatologists to treat eczema, presumably by suppressing S. aureus growth, which is correlated with disease severity [173–177]. The recommended dilution of bleach varies [91, 101, 146, 173, 176]. An in vitro assay determined that the hypochlorite concentration necessary for maximal S. aureus killing was 2.5 μL of 6% hypochlorite per mL of water (equal to approximately ½ cup bleach in ¼ bathtub full of water), with an exposure time of 15 minutes yielding a >4-log decrease in S. aureus [175]. In clinical practice, to minimize skin irritation, a dilution of ¼ cup household bleach in ¼ bathtub (~13 gal) of water is recommended; for non-standard bathtubs, 1 teaspoon of bleach should be added per gallon of water. Individuals should soak in the dilute bleach water for 15 minutes. As household bleach is readily available and inexpensive, bleach baths are attractive for the purpose of decolonization. Additionally, soaking body areas that are frequently colonized with S. aureus (e.g. the groin and axillae) likely provides optimal antimicrobial effect. However, in large families, this strategy may be cumbersome and impractical. A recent feasibility study evaluated a body wash gel preparation of sodium hypochlorite (CLn BodyWash, Top MD Skin Care, Inc., Dallas, TX) in atopic dermatitis patients whose eczematous lesions yielded S. aureus [177]. Over 12 weeks, patients experienced significant improvement in severity of their atopic dermatitis; parents reported that the body wash was easier to administer than dilute bleach water baths.

You can safely add a little bleech to water if you need to disinfect the water in an emergency situation and still drink that water without a problem. However, it's at a ratio of about a teaspoon per 12 gallon. There are 24 teaspoon in a 1/2 cup. So, that's what you'd use for close to 300 gallons, not the ~50 gallons that could possibly fit in a bathtub with you in it too. So, that's about 600% more bleech than you should use.

Of course, she's not drinking it, but it's still not a great idea.

An acquantance has rheumatoid. For the last 2 years it has been attacking her skin. Basically nearly every inch of her skin has sores caused by a bacterial overgrowth secondary to the RA. She ended up in quite a bad position when the bacteria got into her blood. It was touch and go for many weeks.

Part of the treatment plan now is 1/2 cup bleach in a full tub for 15 to 20 minutes once a month, in addition to her regular routine. In the beginning it was weekly. If the sores get bad again she goes back to weekly. This is mainstream medicine in addition to her meds, diet, etc.

It works.... on bacteria.

She said in the beginning she found herself constantly looking for anything that might help. As long as it wasn't harmful she tried it.

It sounds silly but let her have it. It won't kill her and if she feels better, so be it. (Yes, even if it does absolutely nothing.)
