Nervous Republicans See Trump Sinking, and Taking Senate With Him... Glen Bolger, a longtime Republican pollster, said the landscape for his party had become far grimmer compared with the pre-virus plan to run almost singularly around the countrys prosperity.
With the economy in free-fall, Republicans face a very challenging environment and its a total shift from where we were a few months ago, Mr. Bolger said. Democrats are angry, and now we have the foundation of the campaign yanked out from underneath us.
... Representative Tom Cole, Republican of Oklahoma, said the president had to change his tone and offer more than a campaign of grievance.
You got to have some hope to sell people, Mr. Cole said. But Trump usually sells anger, division and were the victim.

Here the deal Rep. Cole -
Plan A: '"anger, division and 'we're the victim'"
There Is No Plan B.

(509 posts)I remember that too. Although I think Indiana will be out reach, but I could see a surprise state like Texas and South Carolina going blue if there's a 2008 type landslide.

(1,822 posts)It was a beautiful thing to see Indiana in blue on that map. Unfortunately I think that really pissed off the GOP in the state and its gone hard right ever since. Republicans all across the state in power anymore.

(9,959 posts)... at first, I thought things had changed for Crooked Donald and the Republicans. They said it was different than a "few months ago." Happily, elections prospects are the same as before the Coronavirus... Republicans have lost big everywhere, including a record-breaking midterm. They are pretending to have a short memory... but as long as they keep losing, who cares?

(9,426 posts)for the worse. However if the vote on impeaching the Giant Peach was held today, the results would be exactly the same. The gop would NEVER admit HE was a yuuuge mistake. They cheered him on, through every disgusting thing he did. Even now, name one who willingly speaks out about what a disaster he has caused. The man is an idiot, and always has been.

(10,193 posts)Finally Republicans admit Trump (and the entire Republican party) has been selling "anger" and "division" all along to get elected. For decades they've been denying their cynical strategy, claiming they were just patriotic "real" Americans who only wanted to "make America great again."
But, now that Trump's criminal negligence has destroyed the strong economy he inherited from Obama, and 53,000 people are dead, Cole complains the GOP has fallen "victim" to Trump's angry and divisive tone, and his "campaign of grievance." It's time to have some hope to sell people," Cole says, after years of ridiculing Obama's message of hope and change.
Go fuck yourself, Mr. Cole. You, Trump and the rest of your Republican party.

(193 posts)Okay, it took all this for tRump and the despicable GOP to get to the brink! Even now, I read polls where this lunatic hate filled idiot is still competitive. Un-freaking believable.
2016 coming after eight years of peace and prosperity should never have been close. Yes, the people did not vote for Don the Con; but it was still close enough to deliver him an electoral victory.
Even in Nazi Germany the fascists came to power because of a devastating economic depression. What's America's excuse for 2016?!? The only thing I can come up with is HRC was a woman and President Obama was a black man. Shame on you America for your sexism and racism! One can only hope that this country will put away it's hatred and prejudice and learn what happens when all reason is thrown out the window for one's ignorant bias!

(12,618 posts)I know this is a common GOP talking point, but he's polling right about where he's been all along. The GOP just wants to pretend like he's way more popular than he is, so now it's all, "The Virus! The Virus ruined it for him!" But he was always a loser who had little chance of reelection.

(8,678 posts)The economy is going to tank this summer and doubt it will recover enough to matter by election day. The "good" economy was the only significant thing Trump and the GOP had going for them. Take that away and they are toast.
Furthermore Trump's handling of the COVID crisis has been a disaster and that will be additional reason for people to not vote for him. Could be a massive landslide for Biden in Nov.

(8,053 posts)We impeached him; gave the republicans a chance to save their slimy selves. But NOOOO! They were so proud of themselves giving him a pass, so they could get a pat on the ass.
We need to totally get rid of every republican lawmaker, at every level of government for the next 20 years, and try to straighten out the mess they've left us with. The last depression they left Obama with was just a practice run for them. It's friggin' over.
No More Republicans Ever. Just say NO.

(38,187 posts)Maybe this will wake people up to just how Republicans don't plan then tell you to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. That philosophy doesn't work in a pandemic that seems to be leading to apocalyptic proportions. The last thing a truly hungry person needs to hear is some smart ass telling them to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. Some of us see no cannibalism taboo worth following when it comes to using smart-mouthed Republicans. Just make sure it's well done for me. Gotta make use of the heartless, selfish, spoiled, temper tantrum pitching fuckers somehow. They are useless otherwise and I am sick of their Trump worshiping smart-mouthed idiotisms.
