Trump's "disinfectant message"

came at the same time that we hit the psychologically important milestone of 50,000 deaths. The uproar over Trump's statement pushed this story of the deaths to "under the fold."

It makes me wonder if this has been a distraction play. Take the hit on the disinfectant and ignore the deaths. If so, there was a miscalculation on the ability to walk back the statement and a miscalculation on the world-wide reaction. Perhaps Trump went off script an overplayed the part and has found that he is unable to pass it off as a joke, so now he has to run and hide from the press.

Trump loved the briefings. He loved to stand before the people and brag about his brilliant handling of the crisis. To step away seems to be out of character, unless someone else made the decision. Perhaps Putin called and told Trump to sit down and shut up before he blows the election.

and when he does - he is incapable of understanding or paying attention the the facts. He has the attention span of a gnat. Hence - he heard bits and pieces of the briefing about uv light and disinfectant on surfaces and then made the leap to think that well if it can kill on surfaces then why not try it in the body.

His people have been warning him for weeks that these press conferences are hurting him more than helping. He became a laughing stock and finally got the message his people have been telling him.

The study presented about UV light was actually supposed to ease our fears about going back out because - the virus will disappear or be reduced in the summer with heat. It goes along with their message of the virus disappearing. He royally fucked that up because he's a lazy dumbass that did not even have the discipline of reading his own administration's messaging.

Over 5,000 Americans have died since he made his crazy statements, and we have not talked about the new deaths. Four months ago, if 5,000 Americans died in the same period of time we would have all been horrified.

Here's Donnie with a display from earlier in the shitshow, about best practices for keeping surfaces virus-free:

Compare that to what he said:

"Question that probably some of you are thinking of if you're totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light. And I think you said that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it,"

"And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're gonna test that, too. Sounds interesting, right?"

"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that. So that you're going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds, it sounds interesting to me. So we'll see.

"But the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute, that's, that's pretty powerful."

For Donnie, who fully believes he knows more than anyone else and has good instincts (the best instincts), the conclusion is obvious! Just do those things inside the body! And POOF! The virus will be wiped out in a minute or so! "Why has nobody thought of this yet? Why do these people with all these degrees need me to tell them things?"

And out it came.
