I put my direct deposit info into the IRS site a couple of days ago

And it said the stimulus money would be deposited into that account.

This morning, it tells me that the IRS will be mailing a paper check to me. This makes no sense.

They may fuck up and give you both. If that happens, play dumb and tell no one.

If you get payments twice, spend only one of them and stash the other away safely and don't use it. It could take six months or even a year before they figure that out and demand the return of one of the payments. But, they will, almost certainly.

At the time the site said the money would be deposited in my account, but didn't offer a date. Today, when I checked the IRS site, it said that a check would be mailed to me on May 1.

So, either it will show up in my account or in my mailbox soon. Either way is OK with me, really. I'm just glad to know the IRS is aware that they need to send the money.

I think we had the same experience, actually. I have no idea which thing will happen, but I have some confidence that the money will be coming around the end of next week. That would be good.

The Get My Payment system does not seem to be particularly well done. However, the money does appear to be being delivered, so there is that.
