Coronavirus Cases Are Spiking In Places Where Trump Supporters Protested Stay-At-Home Orders

From the article:

While there is some light at the end of the tunnel in states where strict stay-at-home measures have been implemented, there has been an apparent rise in coronavirus cases in places where Donald Trump supporters took to the streets to protest.
According to MSNBC’s Joy Reid, cases appear to be back on the rise again in Wisconsin, where Republicans forced an in-person election, and in Florida, where the GOP governor reopened some beaches.
Perhaps most startling, though, is what is happening in Michigan, where Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has taken tough measures to curb the spread of the virus.
As Reid pointed out on Saturday, cases in the state have been on the rise for four straight days, not along after protesters took to the streets to protest stay-at-home orders with Confederate flags and Trump signs.

I had to pick myself up from the floor after reading that. That's just totally shocking and completely unexpected, like out of the blue. I am sure nobody even imagined that possibility.

It couldn't be the virus, could it? I mean, it's invisible and that's like ghosts, right? Is this just a product of their superstitions?

Well, at least we can just consider that a fluke and this is almost over and it just can't happen here and...

I can't get over how completely flabbergasted I am. WTF?

This could turn out to be like HIV and dozens of other viruses that live on in the body and flare.

Is it too early to start daydreaming about awful retribution on the senate Republicans, and vicious, disordered Trump of course, who effectively unleashed it on the nation -- refusing to contain it?

As we, including many in the senate today, whose actions contained SARS-1 back in 2002-3? The U.S. had 8 confirmed cases, no deaths, and worldwide we contained the virus so well that it disappeared.

those deaths aren't attributed to CV-19. Without the testing, there isn't a link.

Except that some researchers are looking at the normal mortality rate per capita (minus the CV-19 deaths), are seeing the spike in the death count, and attributing the spike to CV-19 unreported positives for lack of any other explanation. So there is still a way to account for the virus-related deaths even though Trump is trying to lie his way out of it.

the protest was only 11 days ago and only drew 3000 people, and not all of them even got out of their vehicles. Taking into account incubation time and how many of these yahoos probably even got tests, there can't be that many confirmed cases derived directly from the protest.

more likely is the culture of the MAGAts that attended this protest....... people who have been going to church and socializing in rural areas that see this as a hoax for weeks now, and the numbers are driving up now as the virus spreads through the rural areas finally.........

In fact, it was showing up in the stats before the incubation period was even over.

Protest Wednesday. But even before you were sick, people snuck into your house and took nasal swabs the Friday right after the protest, so that they could be processed by Sunday in time to show up on the Saturday statistics. Then the following week you showed the same symptoms.

That sounds really stupid. But that's what is claimed.

Then again, who am I to argue with Joy Reid, MD and her PhD in epidemiology, going around telling fundamental truthies.

I've noticed that more and more--not just the last month--reporters turn to reporters as the experts. And a reporter, having written an article based on a couple of interviews and a web search calls himself an "expert". I know people who've gone to grad school for 2-3 years after getting a BS in the same field and still don't think of themselves as "experts."
