White House to shift to economic message on coronavirus

White House to shift to economic message on coronavirus

Jonathan Swan

"SNIP.....

The White House plans to shift its coronavirus messaging toward boosting the economy and highlighting "success stories" of businesses, reducing its public emphasis on health statistics, according to two officials familiar with the planning.

Driving the news: The Coronavirus Task Force — and the doctors who've become household names, Deborah Birx and Anthony Fauci — "will continue but take a back seat to the forward-looking, 'what's next' message," a White House official told Axios.

President Trump is expected to make fewer, shorter appearances at press conferences, as we reported on Friday.Nothing's ever set with Trump, and these decisions will be made day by day. But on Saturday, for the first day in weeks, the White House didn't hold a press briefing and the president made no public appearances.

...

Trump will host businesses who've been harmed by the coronavirus, and he'll highlight the governors who are reopening their economies in line with the Trump administration's guidelines. That group pointedly does not include Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

We must keep the focus upon public health and how prematurely opening everything will lead to rising deaths.

compassion, concerns, love, and hope etc. and surrounds himself with people who feel the same way and all of them belong to a political party that feels the same and also claim to be "Christians" . .

What could go wrong?

"Polls are terrible for me. In order for me to get reelected, we have to make it seem like the economy is moving again - which means all the stuff we have been doing recently to limit the spread of the virus - even though we started way too late - is out the window. We'll save as many Republicans as we can."

Every time I've had the misfortune to encounter one of the press campaign briefing rallies, he's been punting for corporate CEOs. Has his message ever not been economic?

late for this. And, I suspect that the coming CV outbreaks w/ some that are opening too early beaches etc., will keep the CV firmly in our sights, regardless of what people may or may not want. Virus has its own agenda and timeline in mind, not ours.

So their plan to end the pandemic is just to say it's over.

This is a health crisis first, the economic problem is a symptom. So the Trump administration intends to downplay the medical part and hype the economic part.

Here's a problem for Dickhead Trump: how can we get food from service and restaurant sectors into consumer channels? How can we restock grocery stores with existing supplies?

Those are economic problems, no? How about: how can we make it so that people can pay for the household goods they need?

I doubt he cares.

as positive cases and deaths start ramping up again because he wants to jump the gun.

He hasn't solved the initial problems and there is still a lack of PPE, masks and testing. As hospitals become overwhelmed again and States continue the stay-at-home orders - he'll be back in the soup again and this time it the American People will really be pissed.
