This morning I watched as Mitt started out giving a speech, wondering what he was going to say about the events in Libya now. He started out with a bunch of "thank yous" to various people, and then started saying something about tragic world events, at which time a man in the crowd began to heckle. The crowd shouted the man down by chanting USA! USA! as they always do, but then...
The man actually said, and I might paraphrase a little but not much, "I was going to ask for a moment of silence, but he obviously doesn't believe in silence."
The heckler had long since been gotten rid of. Why not just have a moment of silence? Why not do the gracious thing and just have a respectful moment of silence then? I think it's because he never intended to, myself. He threw out that line off his very smarmy cuff. The absolute most I can grant is that if he had planned it, he fell prey to the same desire that got him in the current mess in the first place, his glee over having what he perceives is a weapon to use against anyone who opposes him. Right now that weapon is the dead.
He should be ashamed.
