Trump says 'worst days' of coronavirus are 'behind us'

President Trump on Tuesday suggested "the worst days" of the coronavirus pandemic are over as he welcomed a group of small business owners to the White House who have benefitted from an emergency loan program he signed into law last month.

Trump used his speech to express optimism about the country's path to economic recovery amid the pandemic, which has forced businesses to close and caused millions of layoffs across the country due to stay-at-home orders issued by states.

"As our nation battles against this terrible scourge, we continue to pray for the victims as well as those Americans who are grieving their lost ones and their loved ones," Trump said at the outset of his remarks in the East Room. "We suffer with one heart but we will prevail, we are coming back and we're coming back strong."

"Now that our experts believe that the worst days of the pandemic are behind us, Americans are looking forward to the safe and rapid reopening of our country," the president continued.

59,266 Total US Deaths +2,470 new deaths Tuesday

At least 1% of those new cases will be new deaths probably in 2 weeks. I don't think anything is behind us yet.

Absolutely behind us. Beyond this point, time as Donnie's Dystopian unit of ongoing misery will be measured in weeks and months.

You can't run a country on wishful thinking by a narcissist mobster who is only focused on reelection so he can finish off creating a dictatorship and commence his Regime. Nope.

There are no sure bets about how we are going to do this Summer, let alone the Fall. If states are going to open prematurely for ulterior motives and people are going to ignore the restrictions, (which Trump is encourage with false statements like that) then a big spike soon and a potentially huge second wave in Fall is due and that serves to set us back. I mean way back, like square one and what do we do now in this mess?

We're going hit that mark by the middle of May, maybe sooner.

We're going to be in this all year if Trump and the GOP keep denying it.

Two weeks fomr now it's going to be clear that opening up was a bad idea...and Fall will no doubt bring another bigger wave...

I am worried for the Election, (and January inauguration)

But I am more worried that my parent's could be victims of this. Or me. Or my kids.

We are *SO* not out of the woods yet
