Debate question on The West Wing I tried to recall, candidates asked to ask challenger a question:

Bartlet, incumbent, to challenger Florida governor:

'Last year we gave Florida 60 million of federal aid, now I'm supposed to ask a question.... when can we expect it back?'

Relevant, or what?!

Bartlet's question begins around 3:30.

ETA: Trump and his Trumpistas have never figured out how the government works. Perhaps this is a good thing because it has limited the damage they could do.

Had Trump simply watched the seven seasons of The West Wing he would have had a much better understanding of our government. Thankfully, he watched Fox News instead. Quite the opposite.

But you badly overestimate Trump, PJ. Expectations of any sort lead people into that trap.

This astonishing anomaly of American history is proven literally not capable of understanding or of respecting the principles West Wing was always explaining, and he would have had a pathological lack of interest in the issues or processes. Wonder if he ever turned it on, or more than once? Guessing he would have liked scenes of cheering crowds, but otherwise his 2-minute attention span would have been stressed with impatience and contempt for all those inferior minds.

(Yes, 'begin' @ 11:48 a.m! Have spoken with grandkids and daughter, and caught osprey pics, so begins my 'puter' day; also heard Tchai's Violin Concerto first thing!)
