are not something to just toss away, and Biden and his VP will be well settled into their jobs but with so much more still to be done.

As for what I want, doesn't change my mind at all. I'm a shopping-cart chooser.

I want a female of course.
Someone with some black and some Hispanic -- and a dash of a neglected minority would be a nice gesture.
Some LGBTQ+ (someone from the "+" would be really cool as long as compatible with Biden's promise to choose a "woman".
From out west because Biden's east. Goes without saying.
Buddhist, Shinto or some such thing, or avowed atheist would be more representative also.

Let's see, oh yeah: a good dash of hatred for the Democratic Party, to appeal to young people who've been marinated in anti-government hostility all their lives, those liberal Latinos who "woke" to Sanders, and of course his angry populists and blue-collar progressives in hopes they won't run off and vote Republican again.

What am I missing? I'm sure there's a bunch.

then I will gladly support him. The VP choice will have to wait until 2028 so someone who respects patience as a virtue is as worthy of support as someone who places themselves at the forefront and starts campaigning in 2021 for the office.

his assistant president. Expect she'll far too busy to schedule in any waiting or practicing patience, especially if over time he does start feeling his age and shifts more to her portfolio.

Reminds me, when Biden came out of the WH after having served for 8 intense years, he was no longer interested in running for the top job. In a very real sense he'd been there and done that. He's running now because his country called and he couldn't say no.

top job. His son, Beau, died at the end of May 2015 which was near the time for him to make a decision as to whether he was going to run in 2016. I don't believe that he ever lost that ambition to be president, but he saw the field getting filled with other candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and it would have been difficult to carry on a national campaign while still in mourning. Biden, along with others, saw what the Republicans were offering as alternative with Jeb Bush being the frontrunner on the GOP side. Despite whomever was nominated in either party, he could see someone with a least a minimal amount of sensibility getting into the White House. Nobody in their right minds in 2015 would have ever projected Donald Trump as becoming leader of the Free World.

and the primary source probably should be believed ahead of pundits regurgitating groupthink. He was no kid at that point either, now in his 70s. Trump thought it'd be one long string of parades and rallies. Biden was 6 years into the grueling reality.

However, Biden's a man of duty, positioned at that time as extremely few were, and would have wondered in 2015 if that was something he should be doing. Running for our first woman president was inherently risky, and aside from her there was no one approaching his stature in the lineup.

As you say about Trump. Biden would of course have expected the worst from the powerful RW character assassination machine he knew all about, including the MSM. What he might have suspected about the FBI's potential sedition we don't know, but its scope and actions over several months were unprecedented. Probably underestimated what would become a powerful synergy of Russian-augmented populist movements attacking from right and left.

I also believe if he could have seen into the future he would have run, believing they'd find him a more difficult target to take out. But that's different from wanting to, and our situation had degenerated extremely dangerously by the time he had to once again make that decision.

Midwest appeal is a good thing considering where the Democratic party has been failing lately. How about attracting non-progressives? Seems like a large swath of voters that we need to win this fall.

It has a Democratic Governor and two Democratic Senators. It hasn’t voted for a Republican in a Presidential election since 1972.

And Biden is already attracting moderate voters, he doesn’t need another moderate on the ticket. Nor does he need someone who will not energize African Americans.

There are just so many better choices than Klobuchar.

And the latest poll has Biden beating Trump by 12 points.

Even if it were a swing state, what would be the smarter pick a VP candidate who can help win Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes or one who could help win Florida’ 29 votes?

Unless something serious medically happens to Joe Biden in that time there is no way they just decide to give up the greatest advantage in politics statistically which is incumbency. The "serve 4 years and then pass the torch" thing has been nonsense since people started discussing it a year ago.

You could lose your posting privileges by peddling repuke talking points and these talking points both have came mainly from Faux Noise and tRump. Joe Biden has released his medical history, he's in great shape!

https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/g29703876/presidential-candidates-2020-workout-routines/|

According to a campaign spokesperson, Biden, who turns 77 this month, stays in shape with cardio and weight lifting routines. (Last year, Biden’s brother called a SiriusXM political talk show and made the claim that the senior citizen ex-senator can bench press multiple reps of 185 pounds.)

He also exercises on a rowing machine and Peloton bike, according to the campaign. His eating habits include fruit juice and Greek yogurt for breakfast and salads with protein—usually fish—for lunch and dinner. Biden also indulges in the occasional pasta and red sauce and ice cream.
