On FB, an acquaintance is spreading a particularly ugly "story" which she links to a group called "Fellowship of the Minds" at wordpress.com. They appear to be an ugly little blog type page in which anyone in the world can add "news". Anyway, I looked them up at whois and found their server is markmonitor, and this is entered as the site registrar. How do I research this further. This group seems to have a vested interest in whipping up stuff here in the US. RW & rabid Christian fomenters.

(47,992 posts)I had software some years ago that allowed me to track a route through the internet. Maybe that software was part of something I had purchased from Symantec? The reason I'm wondering is to try to locate the host server, but it's wordpress, so that may be meaningless.

(38,000 posts)Meaning, you're not going to get much info on who is behind it by doing a WHOIS search - all that will tell you is WHOIS info for wordpress.
It also looks like the blog is adhering to WordPress' policy against monetizing on their free-hosting service.
My only other suggestion is to scour the site and look for email contact addresses that might lead you to the site's webmaster.
As for the content, if there's hate speech on it, send a complaint to WordPress. I'm almost positive they have an anti-hate speech policy.
