You're not the boss of me!

I've been struggling these past few days to reconcile how Trump supporters can take the position that we should open things up, while at the same time refusing to wear masks (and even discouraging others from doing so). This perfectly reconciles those seemingly contrary positions, while also explaining others (including their opposition to measures designed to combat climate change).

I think that many of us are taught the freedom is not free. That there is give and take, that we have to weigh our own liberty with the rights and safety of others.

Fox and right wing media has turned that on its head, resulting in this childish idea of flouting the idea of community and throwing tantrums.

That is why we are no longer the UNITED States of America. They have used their propaganda tools to completely mess up the minds of those who are mentally lazy.

They claim to want a marketplace of ideas, but the reality is that their ideas are horrible and only serve a very small part of the population. Nixon and Ailes knew this in the 1960's which is why they wanted a GOPTv, to put out "their version of the new". They claim that everything is "liberal" but the reality is that it is news. It is information and it can be interpreted through a lens and debated.

They never wanted to debate. They wanted their own version of "reality". They got it with right wing radio, Fox and the subsequent media ecosystem that pervades that country today.

There have always been divisions in the country, but we were always arguing from the facts. Now the argument is from reality versus whatever they get in right winger media (definitely not reality).

All of those institutes are set up to promote the destruction of our system of government and its replacement with a system of, by, and for large corporations. Data mining and analysis is used to determine how to manipulate segments of the population.

The Kochs are not the only ones who have set up such institutions for remaking government, but see, e.g.,

They set them up at universities (usually starved for cash) to lend an air of legitimacy. Meant to spread their propaganda.
