CNBC: The coronavirus has mutated and appears to be more contagious now, new study finds

PUBLISHED TUE, MAY 5 20201:16

The coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China, over four months ago has since mutated and the new, dominant strain spreading across the U.S. appears to be even more contagious, according to a new study.

The new strain began spreading in Europe in early February before migrating to other parts of the world, including the United States and Canada, becoming the dominant form of the virus across the globe by the end of March, researchers at the Los Alamos National Laboratory wrote in a 33-page report published Thursday on BioRxiv.

Snip
The Los Alamos researchers, with the help of scientists at Duke University and the University of Sheffield in England, were able to analyze thousands of coronavirus sequences collected by the Global Initiative for Sharing All Influenza, an organization that promotes the rapid sharing of data from all influenza viruses and the coronavirus.

To date, the researchers have identified 14 mutations.

This study has not been peer reviewed and can’t be considered as scientific evidence.

Lightening pension liabilities maybe, or reducing welfare rolls. Because this insane response seems like an invitation for catastrophe.

that claimed the complete opposite: studies showing that the virus was weakening?

This is why I am pretty much ignoring the daily doses of corona news. Nobody knows anything conclusive. I'm just staying inside and washing my hands (and clothes and countertops and anything else I can find) for the next who knows when.

... its not the opposite of more contagious. In fact if less people die then it probably becomes more contagious by virtue of not killing its hosts.

for scientists to develop a vaccine with a virus like this. Testing it to determine if it is effective against one single strain would have been hard enough but how to They include 14 mutations?

That stupid Trump needs to shut up about a street ready vaccine within a couple of months. It's not going to happen, never was, but especially not after this new development.

Fools, I've never seen such fools. We need a vaccine but all the wishful thinking and thrown money by Trump's clan isn't going to make it real.
