At least 85 kids across U.S. have developed rare, mysterious COVID-19-linked illness

https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/least-85-kids-across-u-s-have-developed-rare-mysterious-n1202186

Children with a rare but potentially dangerous complication thought to be linked to the coronavirus have now been identified in at least seven states and the Washington, D.C., area.

Doctors say the increase does not necessarily suggest that the number of such cases has grown. Instead, they say, it is likely the result of increased awareness of the problem, which just this week got an official name: pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome.

NBC News has found at least 85 such cases in children across the U.S. The majority — 64 — are in New York state, which has also recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases overall.

Not definitively linked to COVID-19 -- yet. Questions open about potential for permanent damage.

Poor little ones.

You know they will reopen schools before we have a vaccine.

I would home school if I had kids.

family members and having the rest of their lives affected by consequences, guilt, being orphaned and unloved, economic devastation of families and futures.

Know what you mean. But there are really bad signs that COVID itself will make opening schools in districts that shouldn't be very difficult.

And this goes to the deepest concerns of parents. All the current noise is about the desperate and very real need of many parents to get back to work. But there's almost no mention that families with one working parent or other adult at home aren't so desperate for schools to provide daycare that they'd put their own and their families' lives, and their children's health and futures, on the line to get it.

All in all, my guess is it's likely that thousands of school districts will be home schooling until vaccination becomes effective.

Lots of related concerns for sure, such as survivors' guilt, orphans, etc.

But for some reason, it seems most states are going with shitstain's reopen directive.

Guessing schools will do the same this fall.

with low rates of COVID infections, and that's not inappropriate as long as those rates aren't expected to swing up. Children can't bring home what they're not exposed to and also can wash their hands at school and on arriving home. It'll work some places. .

And it won't work at all many others, including where by far most children live.

Again, though, I'm guessing parents will have more concern for their children, themselves, and their own parents than the Republican-serving MSM are reporting. An awful lot of today's parents are in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s, and an awful lot of grandparents are the after-school babysitters.

We'll be seeing how parents feel in public meetings if state governments try to force schools open indiscriminately. And prospectively at the polls. Film of that RW fascist who blew it by publicly saying opening schools would only increase deaths by maybe 2-3% will also come back in play.

But, again, I believe COVID-19 itself will have a huge say in how this plays out. It really looks like it's going to be bad.

And all his other nonsense.

I am worried about the little ones when schools reopen. We all know they are going to open the petri dishes before we have a vaccine. I would home school if I had kiddos.

but I've read similar stories about something like this happening in several European countries, especially Italy and England. So it was only a matter of time to see that in the US as well. I think it had another name and is an illness that sometimes comes after getting the flu but there was a significant increase in cases recently. It was also linked to Covid and apparently it's really nasty.

It is called Kawasaki Disease & it is really nasty, and potentially fatal if not treated within 1st 10 days, from what I have read.

Here is a link to the Kawasaki Organization:

Hoping all schools are kept online until an effective vaccine is widely administered!
