My sister is a Democrat, but a little to the right of me. She is unhappy with Biden. Thinks he's too old etc. But I explained to her that these are unusual times and we may be able to attract a good number of Republicans who are deeply unhappy with what is going on now. I know she will vote for Joe in November.

I'm very glad to hear about your Republican friend. We need to peel a lot of them away from Fox.

For that reason I say I heard he is going to pick an experienced VP that can step right in and besides that he will pick smart and experienced people not just donors for the heads of all the depts we need in America.

His VP pick will be very important to all of us.

We are good here. Our town Medford being more conservative I see lots of people out and about with no masks and having friends over. Luckily our area doesn’t have a lot of cases.

So far none of my family has caught it, most in family still working. Kind of funny I didn’t have to nag as my younger daughter in Texas called everyone early March and read them riot act about masks and going out.

My older daughter is leaning republican these days, I noticed as she made more money and was surrounded in her job by them her views are changing. Thankfully she is forced by laws in CA to wear mask at work and her sister is nonstop bugging her about it. 🤗

How is your family?

Older daughter working from home in Boulder, Colorado. Younger daughter has an apartment in NYC, but she flew out to LA about 6 weeks ago and has been staying with her boyfriend there. Both of them are good lefties and are taking this thing very seriously.

I noticed a while ago when I went to Costco, where they require you to put on a mask to get in, that there were a good number of shoppers without masks inside. I just avoided them and said something to the supervisor on my way out. It is a good thing that Jackson County has so few cases. Let's keep it that way.

Fox has jumped more than one shark at this point. And I do hope they go down. Once we dump The Orange One, then I think OAN will be restored to their fringe spot. I did read that Don Junior is a part owner in OAN. Is that right? If so, it should be a signal that OAN is going down. Trumps never make a good investment.

Glad that you didn't poke (much) fun at his previous bad choices.

My evangelical sister has surprised me recently too. I honestly wondered if she would be like the Ohio woman who claimed that she was "covered in Jesus blood" during an interview by CNN, but she's taking the virus seriously and taking some jabs at Trump. (Her Republican husband still seems to be in denial, though. At least he's honoring her social distancing and mask-wearing demands.)

He just hopes Joe can add a good cabinet, I added that was Trumps major fault he added yes men rather than smart people that would not agree with his every view. I also threw in that's why Obama was successful and Ebola did become an outbreak and Obama surrounded himself with competent people and not family members...

It is almost like deprogramming. They need to stop watching Fox and getting their "information" from right wing sources. After a while they can come back around and start to develop some critical thinking.

I have never heard the word repiglican, and friend, in the same sentence before.

Am I being overly harsh? No. Close family members have now tested positive for Sars-Cov-2. My mother, my wife, my daughter and I are at extreme risk due to the fucking asshole currently occupying the white house.

My mother-in-law has Covid-19, test results came back today. I will never fucking forget you assholes who helped the orange dotard. Never.

This is going to get extremely ugly.

he now believes Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to this country and he is voting for Biden and Dems down ticket.
I always like him but hated his politics for 15 years. He was a third generation Republican...but not anymore.

How did he finally break through the wall of bullshit? He fell in love with a smart woman who belongs to a union. She turned off Fox and calmly made her point.

Love finds a way!

At least enough to realize they've been duped. It is still hard to accept, even after 4 years, that there were enough dumb, gullible, brainwashed, hate-filled, racist, reality-TV addicts, or whatever the reason was they voted for Trump, for him to win the EC. And now? Only a handful have seen the light. Still dumbfounded

When I see polls, like a recent one posted on here, how Trump is still ahead in some battleground states, or that a California seat just recently switched back to Republican, it is baffling.

Is it that the Fairness Doctrine was abandoned? is it a result of years, decades, of dishonest RW propaganda, spearheaded by the granddaddy of them all, Rush Limbaugh?

Sometimes I also think that "liberal" Hollywood helped create a false reality in America that favours the extreme right. I'm now in my sixties, and have seen a lot of Hollywood movies and shows. As the years have gone on there is much more violence, shooting, but I think more influential is the bent towards the maverick/hero The idea that the government is evil and up to no good all the time. And this hero is going to sweep in and uncover all the crimes and disrupt the business as usual goings on. All kinds of anti-heros in the history of film. Right up to present with The Joker. A brilliant movie I enjoyed it immensely, Joaquin Phoenix was brilliant. But at times I wonder at the cumulative affect of demonizing authority, while glorifying those that skirt the rules, usually involving guns....even back to Eastwood in Dirty Harry. Or Bronson in Death Wish. Anyways, going off on a tangent. If I was a young student I'd do a thesis on this.
