at least for those with those fine print exclusions referencing "act of God" or however they word it now.

Given most health care workers can not file workman's comp when they get infected (I know this for a fact for HCW friends/colleagues in GA, for one)--even when they can document COVID-19 positive patient exposures, there are emerging loopholes everywhere.

That is a fascinating point. Also, if you smoke, you have to pay higher rates for life insurance. What about engaging in wireless behavior like not wearing a mask?

I’m generally not for insurance companies figuring out ways to not pay out.

I get it. It might be just to not pay for people who exposed themselves by going to a bar, but where do they stop? Healthcare workers exposed themselves by going to work. Transportation workers and truckers and grocery workers did the same.

Insurance companies shouldn’t be making moral decisions in when it’s ok to do something risky. And they won’t. They’ll apply any rule they can use as widely as possible.

Nothing good comes from giving insurance companies excuses not to pay.

11. 'NOVID': CMU Professor Creates Anonymous Coronavirus Contact Tracing App
Thu May 14, 2020, 02:34 PM

NOVID is the first major anonymous contact tracing app to use ultrasound and bluetooth technology to accurately gauge the distance between people.

Po-Shen Loh is an associate math professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He came up with the idea of NOVID, then mobilized a team of researchers to make it happen.

You don’t have to identify yourself in any way. It generates what’s called a random user identifier. The app will pick up someone else near you using NOVID, but you won’t know who that person is.

NOVID is available to download in the app store and Google Play.

... for people to finally "get it".

I live between MA and RI. One just north of Boston and the other wayyyy down in RI on the CT line. Both of these states are in the top ten of deaths per million. MA is 4 and RI is 8. People around here for the most part are following the laws and taking the stated precautions without all that much of a fuss. Yes, we do still have loonies, but they are a small percentage of people.

Most other states have a much lower death rate, I believe because those states shut down before it spread to them from the North East. Once everyone opens up, people will start traveling and those states who haven't seen big numbers will begin to.

This is what it is going to take to get those Trump supporters to believe there is anything wrong.
