A return to a "new normal"?

We were not "normal" before this pandemic. That is why our country is so divided now. It was divided then. Partisan politics had reached a fever pitch. There is nothing "normal" about it. The division is a detriment to our country.

Too many people do not trust Donald Trump. Before the pandemic, they knew him to be a liar. A dishonest person, probably doing business with the Russian mob? Someone who cares about no-one except himself.

We cannot escape the reality that surrounds us. Richard Nixon could not escape the Watergate scandal. Donald Trump cannot escape the "Pandemic" scandal. It doesn't matter if he is personally responsible for any of the deaths, it happened on his watch. With political historians, they tend to give credit or blame to the president who is in office at that time. Trump cannot escape that stamp of history.

So, what type of "new normal" are we returning to? There is an insane person driving the bus and, on top of that, he is also blind. And blindly they follow. One dare not think the darkest possibilities.

2. I don't think we yet know what the normal will be.

I still think we have a long way to go with this pandemic. Until there is an effective treatment for this virus there won't be a normal, new or otherwise.

vote him out. On the other hand, you NEVER hear the word impeached about him.

Also, he is running some scathing ads about Biden, and so far I have not heard any Biden ads.

4. The "new normal" will be learning to accept the deaths of thousands for the sake of the economy.

Much like we've had to accept the deaths of tens of thousands every year paying homage to the 2nd Amendent, or the deaths of millions of Americans to increase health insurance company profitability, or the death of the entire planet to sustain the fossil fuel industry, and so on.

6. The word...

The word, "normal" may be a problem. People use it a lot. It is not really specific. It can refer to the past in some cases, as in "return to".

For instance, what is a normal dog or a normal person? Are they statistics or a consensus? Is normal an average or a form of conformity?

We could change the way we frame things by recognizing that. Normal is not normal. It is vague. Different people can fill in what the word refers to.
