"SNIP.....
White House economic adviser Peter Navarro claimed on Meet the Press that lockdowns to curb the spread of the coronavirus will indirectly kill more people than the virus itself.
......SNIP"
And who is responsible for building businesspeople into cult members who get all their self worth from their increased productivity and bonuses than being a good person or a truly religious one (real walk the walk christianity for example) or truly interconnected with their communities through paying good taxes that go to good schools or sharing in a great universal healthcare system with the whole country or mentoring youth, or being part of a country that has lead and still leads the world in every crisis, etc? Or all of the above or a mixture thereof? Cause businesspeople is who Trump cares about. Who is responsible of making all the people really so brittle? The poor are financially vulnerable, the republican rich are morally poor and community poor. So disconnected? The GOP. But the GOP business cult need an intervention if only to be shown a better way and a way out: when you pull up the ladder behind you you have nowhere to go, but to jump, in a business crisis.
Then again in Britain they are worried about suicides of front line workers due to COVID-19. So we can up the numbers of deaths in the case business opens too soon and COVID - 19 numbers go way back up and traumatize healthcare workers into ptsd.

If only there had been proper bending of the curve in february and early march. Many deaths could have been avoided due to economic loss of workers and business owners and COVID - 19.

(25,111 posts)or stay at home and the virus caused - 90,000 deaths. Now, opening up to soon where many states don't require mask and restrictions and the virus will roam again and cause more sickness and deaths.
Thereby, causing a shutdown again. Of course, shithole will blame somebody else.

(5,124 posts)Not sure if its the same asshole. I've heard that a few times from Trump minions, talking about all the people that will die from suicide and overdose as a result of the shutdown. As someone that works in mental health, this makes me so damn angry and I feel insulted. I work in community mental health. We were already in a damn crisis before Covid19. I am so sick and tired of them using mental health as a political tool for their benefit. They talk mental health after shootings and now this. Where the fuck is the funding for mental health if you care so much? Either put up or shut the fuck up.

(22,143 posts)facts. We've had barely enough lockdowns underway so there should be evidence of these massive number of other than CV deaths, caused by the lockdowns themselves. Show us copies of death certificates (if families will approve of disclosure) that a lockdown caused their relative's death.
Idiotic POS.

I wonder who they think will fall for that stuff, really? Is there a graph with an estimated percentage of gullibility?
The entire irony behind this, to me, from what I have studied about it, is that the ones who consider themselves "woke" and "the in crowd" and Red Pill takers, (I guess red is for Republican) and "have it all figured out" seem to be the most likely to buy into the propaganda, hook, line and sinker. They are proffering more establishment-induced material than they can comprehend.
That's why the new "woke" would be, IMHO, that the conspiracy is the conspiracy theories. There is a lot of information about how foreign and local governments are tapping into that "alternative reality" sphere to exploit the people who believe in things they don't really understand and are not capable of discerning a form of pareidolia and confirmation bias with substantiated fact. Even if they don't agree, consensus reality has its common ground and you start there and then find your conspiracies, (which do leave a trail of evidence.) They force the data to fit their theories rather than the other way around and this is not clear to them, even.

(7,423 posts)This is really an absurd false equivalence, the last I checked suicides and drug overdoses aren't exponentially contagious.
If he's going to fear monger, he really should stay focused on the specter of lasting or irreversible damage to the economy. That's a very real thing and he wouldn't even have to exaggerate that much.
