Wow. Right track jumped to 40% (CBS)

That doesn't sound like much, but Americans haven't thought the country was on the "right track" for a loooooong time.

CBS News/New York Times Poll. Sept. 8-12, 2012. N=1,301 adults nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.

9/8-12/12 right track 40% - wrong direction 54%

That is an 8% jump from late August, and I think that's tied for the biggest jump in the Obama presidency. It is also the highest number sine September, 2009.

Are you better off than you were four years ago? Well, four year ago this week the CBS right track poll was 14% - 81%.

Last November it was 15%-76%, probably during the Republican budget hostage-taking. .

The worst it has been was 7% in mid-October 2008, so if Romney asks during a debate this October whether you're better of than you were four years ago he will be harking back to the worst Americans have ever felt things were going in the life of the poll.

The whole trend here is interesting stuff:

Symbols are fun.

Also, that is pretty darned encouraging! Not great, mind you, but a hell of an improvement!
