I'm glad that lying woman was forced to give up her dog.

I am.

But I am even more glad Christian Cooper wasn't gunned down by the police because of the racist lie that POS woman told.

Amy Cooper used racism to intimidate Christian Cooper.

- Do as I say or I'll tell the police a black man is hurting a white woman -

She then escalated matters by calling the police. She was counting on the racism of others and the well - documented deaths of African - American men and women at the hands of the police to settle everything.

Because she felt safe and comfortable in her own racism she was counting on the protection of other white people. To her thinking, and not just her thinking, her white skin is all the explanation anyone needs.

- White woman in trouble. Come one, come all - white people to the rescue -

- Because how could a white woman be in the wrong when a black man is standing there, looking all guilty in his blackness? -

Amy Cooper knew exactly what she was doing. She knew exactly what the outcome could be because of her lie.

And without the phone footage, without the evidence to protect him, Christian Cooper could very well have been another dead black man tonight. Killed by the police. Another statistic.

The dog is safe. I'm glad.

Mr. Cooper is still alive. I'm very grateful.

This time. But what happens the next time some white person cries "Black"?

She could have absolutely gotten this gentleman, a bird-watcher, killed for having the audacity to request she follow the law and leash her dog. On top of the racism, she is clearly an irresponsible dog owner and should not get that rescue back. That poor dog was crying due to the way she was slinging it around. IMO, she deserves whatever she gets.

the crowd to assume guilt. Trial by crowd is not a good thing.

We have spent thousands of years dealing with questions of "justice" and "evidence". Most societies believe trials by evidence are necessary before punishment for crimes is attempted. This concept is behind some of the sillier things in the law, as seen by the layman.

We're up against several things here-- the obvious one is the inherent racism in her cries. That cannot be fixed in this one case, since we've been dealing with it for hundreds of years with only partial success.

But, we shouldn't fall for, and New Yorkers rarely do. It's only a small percentage who jump on a lynch mob, but they do exist and must be shut down immediately.

Beyond that, the question is "What's the crime?" Just what was she blaming the guy for? He called her out for not leashing her dog. Kind like calling someone out for not wearing a mask. NY street ethics often beg for judgment calls-- at what point do you call someone out and not just be an annoying busybody? The rules are often made up on the spot.

And mistakes will be made-- the enormous number of ethnic and racial groups you'll be dealing with on those streets often make for some quick thinking.

New York, of course, isn't the only place like this, just one of the biggest.

OK, I'm rambling. It's after 1AM here and I'm still up. So I'll shut up.

Apparently the Franklin Templeton site(where she works), crashed tonight once her identity became known. This story is unraveling at breakneck speed, the incident occurred This Morning!!

She will probably lose her job, and her dog. Her name may appear at the top of internet searches for a long, long period of time. There is little that is defensible about her actions. From the phone call itself, to they lying about her situation to authorities, to the fact she was more concerned with making false claims to the police, than she was with taking care not to hurt her dog. Not to mention the fact she was breaking the law to begin with by not having Henry on a leash in the Ramble.

Whether she truly is a decent person or not, and I have no idea if she is, her lot is now cast, and she'll have to live with the consequences the rest of her life most likely. This will Always be out there.

If she didn't line them up herself, she certainly kicked it off when her scofflaw arrogance was confronted by a Black man. The well-being of her cherished dog was her defense when she was told where she could freely unleash her dog, "It's not safe over there." He persisted and wisely began to document the unfolding incident with the camera of his phone. At this point she could have just put her precious dog back on his leash, but... a Black man. Boom.

So, she grabs her precious dog by the collar while she calls for the police because a Black man (threatens her). As the next domino falls she's practically choking her little dog as he frantically tries to free himself from her grip on his collar that's lifting him off of his feet. Boom.

The video goes viral and she is identified by former dog walkers that work with the agency that fostered the dog she agreed to take care of. Boom.

The agency takes the dog back. Boom.

As her identity is exposed, it includes her employer that feels pressure to suspend (if not yet, terminate) their relationship. Boom.

All because racism is not smart. It's just stupid upon stupid.

So, what happens now that racism has destroyed her life? Does she cancel her future life, eat shit and die? Does she join ranks with Racists R Us as her last resort because a Black man? Is there rehab for racism?

She is supposedly a very smart financial manager. I hope she is smart enough to take a humble look at her very stupid situation. Boom.

If there is to be an epiphany it must not end with her.

As I side note I cannot stand people who dont follow dog leash rules and other dog regulations. It becoming a huge problem in many metropolitan areas where dogs are overwhelming the parks, trails and other public areas.
