The man in the article who drugged the runaway is black, so, of course you had to expect one of the local boys to come up with the comment, which by now, we all know is coming:
I want you all to remember it, because, someday soon you are all going to ask why I would take on such a massive, windmill cause to expose the crooked ways of my community. Remember that comment above because it will all begin to make sense. I don't think it's really known how corrupt AND ingrained in society the Republican party has become. What they're doing in their own communities, and who is harboring them, protecting them, will shock you. I may not succeed in making an easy point, connecting the dots for you, but at least I'll try to begin the process to explain why our jails don't have their share of corrupt Republicans among the inmates.
Cops: Man forced 14-year-old runaway into prostitution
A Palm Bay man was in jail Friday after investigators say he drugged and threatened to kill a 14-year-old runaway so he could sell her sexual services online.
Reginal Hardy, 38, is being held at the Osceola County Jail on three prostitution-related charges, plus kidnapping and human trafficking.
Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation agents say Hardy met the girl in Cocoa during the first week of this month, began having sex with her and threatened her not to tell.
"If I talk to you, they will kill my family and me," she told police, according to a report. "They know my address and my numbers."

(46,750 posts)They don't need to justify their prejudicial opinions. I use to attend Thanksgiving dinners with the in-laws and they would invariably ALWAYS point out to the imbalanced number of jailed minorities, black and hispanic, (I'm latina) as evidence that minorities have some kind of criminal gene. So, it's become a mission of mine to show them the side that they don't see, or the side that they are blind to.
I've seen the beginnings of people finally beginning to understand with posters who address letters to those who are so privileged in society, that they don't realize the entitlements they have.

(16,230 posts)I suspect it's much closer to the overall makeup of the general population. It may even be disproportionately white, since they are more likely to have the money to spend on prostitutes.

(46,750 posts)I will say, however, that this area seems to be getting more proactive about reporting the customers. They see the connection. Though most of the time we're dealing with customers who picked up underaged workers. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next round up.

(46,750 posts)I think that's what they're trying to bring attention to. It just happened that this guy was black.
