I knew the one piece I had used had some left to it. I wanted to use it for inlay on something I am making. I could not find it to save me. Well, I happened to find it.

Everything else in the world is going wrong. I wish there was good news somewhere other than that, but I don't see any, other than some bigots losing their jobs. That's always good news. So, all hope is not lost. Just most of it.

I'm ready to get drunk again. It has been a couple of weeks. I would be thankful if Food Lion would get another bag of oranges in stock. I would LOVE a huge fruit drinking party with loads of different kinds of fruits. Add some nuts, wine, coconut and cheese and it would be an awesome party.

I wonder if there is a way to have a party online. I'm sure there is, with a lot of imagination.

The passion fruit juice sounds delightful. I want some.

3. For the first time in my career I have a permanent job
Wed May 27, 2020, 07:36 AM
May 2020

I work in IT, and have spent my career to date doing contract jobs; three months here, six months there. Project ends and I move on. I've averaged two employers/clients a year for twelve years.

I accepted a permanent position with my latest client, and am out of the contracting game. Less money this way, but the tradeoff is benefits and job security. This job is more software development and and analysis, and less project management; which is definitely less stress. Allows more time for me to be a proper father and husband.

this seemed like the right and safe move. Not a good idea to be an expensive contractor in a major recession.

Family budget will be tighter though, and I need to keep my mouth shut when management is being idiotic. I'm used to being able to speak my mind since I had no plans on staying around. Executives don't take well to being told they have no clue what they are talking about, especially when its painfully obvious to everyone and I can (and do) prove it.

10. I got 4 letters from my youngest
Wed May 27, 2020, 07:58 AM

yesterday.

My spouse still says no to a dog. Our neighbor's dog comes over to visit us every morning, looking for belly scratches. If you think about it, that is the best dog to own. We don't have to feed, clean up, pay vet bills or bathe him. Only rub his belly and play.

We found a whole turkey yesterday, we've been looking for weeks. We plan on smoking it this weekend.

I made a chocolate cream pie with Godiva dark chocolate pudding the other day. Just got done eating a piece for breakfast.

In lieu of a dog my spouse bought a bird feeder. We watch birds fighting over it all day. My money is on the cardinal, but the blue jay has finally showed up this year. We need another pair of binoculars so we don't have to keep handing them off to each other to watch the action.

Our above ground pool collapsed in the fall of2018. I miss seeing deer in our yard drinking out of it. Now that I mention it, it would be a good place to plant a garden for the deer to eat.

33. Put up a bird bath with running water
Wed May 27, 2020, 12:03 PM
May 2020

The deer would probably drink out of that and it will attract birds, too.

That reminds me, I need to fill up my bird feeders - or set the drips back up on them. Birds prefer moving water, so even a dripper over the bird bath will keep the water cleaner and attract them. Even when I am not regularly putting out bird feed, the bird baths still attract birds to the yard.

I like the Cobra Mistand line - they are very sturdy, adjustable and mist/drip just right. The humming birds love to play in the mist and the water drips down into whatever I am using for a bird bath:

It just screws into a regular hose connection and can be bent to stand on its own, pointed any way you like. They are very sturdy and pretty cheap.

I'd spent $30 on a Birds Unlimited fancy dripper setup - it didn't last one season since the tubing was lightweight. The Orbit Cobra misters have held up for nearly ten years now. If Home Depot or Lowes is out, Amazon and other online sources carry them.

13. I finally got to see my son's family for a few hours on Sunday...
Wed May 27, 2020, 08:05 AM
May 2020

They live on four acres in Cleveland's Metro Parks. They have been rehabbing a mid century modern that was designed, built and owned by the artist that designed the NASA logo. It needed a lot of work but it was a real find. We drove 2.5 hours to see them on Sunday and the PA and Ohio Turnpike were practically empty. We sat outside for 3 hours with them and then drove back home. It was wonderful to see them.
Our other son and his family are in Maine. We usually make that drive every other month and have not seen them since February. I have no idea how soon we will make that trip again. It is very hard not having family close by but other people have much bigger issues that I do so I am not complaining.
MF45 has managed to makes all of our lives a bit of hell. I wish him all the worst.

Wed May 27, 2020, 08:18 AM

but I got her when she was 2 weeks old. Named her Maisie Beignet. She's been fed, her playpen all made spiffy, and is currently asleep. She eats wet and dry food but still gets a bottle while she is transitioning. The bottle goes away soon though. Very soon.

Found the first one the day she was born. She's eight months old now. Her name is Gladys Moonpie. Recently spayed. Loves Maisie. Rules the roost - the boss of 3 dogs. They don't seem to mind having a feline Queen.

Both tabby. One is grey marbled, the other, Maisie, has more maturing to do before we see her future adult self. Currently she is blue with greenish/grey eyes. Have no clue what her parents were. I think she's going to be interesting looking. Definite tabby markings when the light hits her just right.

May 2020

I am so proud of her, she is organized, hard worker who started at her job as receptionist and worked her way to top manager with office next to owner and in charge of 350 employees.

She went from minimum wage to making good money all on her own with a smile in her heart.

She has worked 12 hr days for the last 3 months fighting with the owner to pay all her people and keep them working. The 2 months 300 of them were sent home it was with full pay because of her.

The other day she told me she had been home for half a hour before she realized she still had her mask on because she is so used to wearing it all day. She has quite a few to choose from as customers have made them for her.

This is my daughter who got pregnant at 17 and I cried when she said she was going to keep baby worried for her future. She made it work and her son I admit is my favorite grandchild.

This is good news since it sat for two weeks with nothing happening. The addition was supposed to be finished by the end of May. Not possible - they still need to paint, finish the electrical, install the air conditioning, put in the floor, finish the trim.

There is also some bad news but I'll leave that out.
