So, this is how the 1st Amendment actually works. You can't shut down Twitter because you're the gov't. The 1st Amendment protects our right to speak up here & remind the world you're responsible for the deaths of 100,000 Americans no matter how you try to distract from that.
@realDonaldTrump
Twitter has now shown that everything we have been saying about them (and their other compatriots) is correct. Big action to follow!

I miss Joyce (and Barbara McQuaid, and Chuck Rosenberg, and Michael Beschloss.....) and her commentary on our life and times.

(4,612 posts)Trump doesn't realize that the 1st Amendment and "free speech" mean everyone gets to trash him, and he can't do shit about it.

(7,432 posts)Trump is just blowing smoke. He has no interest in shutting down his life-blood. He survives by using Twitter. Were he to cut himself off from Twitter, his approvals would immediately drop 15 points. His base would forget his name.
Yeah, First Amendment, etc, etc. Trumpy-boy only cares about HIM, not everyone else. But he'd NEVER shut it down anyway, even if he could.

(43,192 posts)The Alien and Sedition Acts were four laws passed by the Federalist-dominated 5th United States Congress and signed into law by President John Adams in 1798.[1][nb 1] They made it harder for an immigrant to become a citizen (Naturalization Act), allowed the president to imprison and deport non-citizens who were deemed dangerous ("An Act Concerning Aliens", also known as the Alien Friends Act of 1798)[2] or who were from a hostile nation (Alien Enemy Act of 1798),[3] and criminalized making false statements that were critical of the federal government (Sedition Act of 1798).[4]
The Federalists argued that the bills strengthened national security during the Quasi-War, an undeclared naval war with France from 1798 to 1800. Critics argued that they were primarily an attempt to suppress voters who disagreed with the Federalist party and its teachings, and violated the right of freedom of speech in the First Amendment.[5]
Lock him up.

Meanwhile, cops await for a DNA sample to prove he is a disgusting rapist!

(5,725 posts)Early on someone quizzed him about that "investigative team" on its way back from Hawaii with "a yuge bombshell" about President Barack Obama's birth-cert. He went bonkers and bellowed that he didn't want to talk about that anymore. And that was that, because no one wanted to make the Angry Clown stomp away from the mic and spoil the circus performance that viewers wanted to see.
These days? Nobody even bothers to inquire about #Obamagreat (nee Obamagate). It's all about the fart noise he's making today, not the fart noise he made yesterday. He has the attention span of an elderly mayfly and he wants everyone to follow suit.

(26,044 posts)...exactly how the current SCOTUS decides it works. With any other administration and court, I would be utterly convinced the president would suffer a humiliating defeat on this. With the current court...???
