My cousin was devastated. The article says there was an "altercation". What I heard is that the guy ran, was tazed and fell to the ground, then got up and ran away and was shot in the back while running away. He was unarmed. He also had a prior history of drug possession. Does that warrant an execution? Probably not. Cop had previous issues with excessive use of force.
My grandma just told me as story of how a guy was running through her yard, and probably the only thing that kept him from being shot was that kids were around. A few years ago, cops completely lit up a car a few blocks down from my grandma. Put like dozens of bullet holes in it, killed the driver.
Once the cops shot a guy at the place where my dad worked (construction work). Came to arrest him, he probably "resisted arrest".
My dad also got into an argument with a cop once, after which the cop kept following him around for months, looking for reasons to stop him. The cops in the area were notoriously corrupt. My stepbrother was arrested once for "looking like a criminal".
This sort of thing happens a lot in "white trash" areas. It doesn't just happen to black people.
