Men Want To Stake Claim To My Uterus!!

Yes, there are men who want to stake a claim in a place where they have no place being. There is an ongoing assault by men who want to regulate my uterus and vagina. Why is it that a women's reproductive rights are being dictated by those who don't own or understand those body parts they desire to regulate?

This is an unusual comparison, but this reminds me of the Great Oklahoma Land Rush of 1893.

Just a little bit of history, for anyone unfamiliar with this landmark event.

At precisely twelve noon on September 16, 1893, a cannon's boom unleashed the largest land rush America ever saw. Carried by all kinds of transportation - horses, wagons, trains, bicycles or on foot - an estimated 100,000 raced to claim plots of land in an area northern Oklahoma Territory known as the Cherokee Strip.

In 1828, Congress designated the land that would become Oklahoma as Indian Territory. White settlers were required to leave, and a number of tribes from the East and South were forcibly moved into the area from their ancestral lands. Following the war, the US government looked upon these tribes as defeated enemies.

By the time of the Oklahoma land rush of 1893, America was in the grip of the worst economic depression it had ever experienced. This was one of the factors that swelled the number of expectant land-seekers that day. Many would be disappointed. There were only 42,000 parcels of land available - far too few to satisfy the hopes of all those who raced for land that day. Additionally, many of the "Boomers" - those who had waited for the cannon's boom before rushing into the land claim - found that a number of the choice plots had already been claimed by "Sooners" who had snuck into the land claim area before the race began.

So what does this have to do with uteruses and vaginas?

First, I have one of each, so I have a bit on insight into the subject matter. As do more than 50% of the American population. There they are. Those hidden body parts. The ones that many people don't want to really think or talk about because we, as a society, have been taught that it is a taboo subject.

As an element of human nature, vaginas are...shall we say...inviting. They are nature's calling card. One that perpetuates the species. The same can be said about the penis. There it is. Standing tall and proud. While the male organ varies more aesthetically than the female version it is, none the less, pretty much the same with regard to function.

So, why do men want to control the vagina and regulate the uterus? What does this have to do with the Land Rush of 1893? This is my comparison:

Take away the rights of the "owner," even though it is not something you can legally define or want to determine ownership thereof. Steal it or hold it hostage for your own purposes. Push other's best interests aside for that which you feel is inherently yours or should be because you judge it so. If one believes it is their right to decide the fate of others, especially if it is in their own best interest, then any baseless justification works.

There are those who claim we are in the midst of a "War on Women." There is not such a war. There is a war on decency which includes women's rights. It is not one that can be easily dissected or understood. As with racism, it is not hard to define by and large, but hard to understand why it continues to perpetuate regardless of the advancement of our society. Is it learned and taught from birth? Ingrained into one's very being? Firmly believed that it is truth and not conjecture? I believe so. If one is brought up with the belief that something is fundamentally right or wrong, it seems to be virtually impossible to change that belief. Good or bad. Right or wrong.

The war against the vagina, uterus, "reproductive rights" or other civil rights is comparable with that of the land rush. The idea that one has the right to usurp that which someone else has, without regard to that individual or their right to what has been considered to be theirs and theirs alone, is simply detrimental to our humanity.

My uterus and vagina belong to me. My land is not your land.

There is a land rush. And, it is still wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, they don't even have a right to an opinion about what

WE do with OUR bodies, let alone legislate it.

I just wish that they would just admit the fact that they want it to be small enough to fit inside of your uterus.

By the way...your brush is pretty broad here.

Most men (and women) just want good paying jobs, healthcare, housing and food security. Things like that.
